You all are so wonderful, I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with a soot stamping problem! I am following the directions posted in the resources section and the sealer that I am using is exactly the brand that Beate uses however after it is sealed, I still get bad fingerprint marks when trying to assemble my card. Am I doing something wrong or is this just something you have to work around? The sealer just didn't seam to "seal" the soot in. Thanks for any help you might have! Ya'll are great! Amy
:( I had the same thing happen to me, and I used Plaid's Acrylic Sealer in the matte finish. I thought maybe it was my "cheap store bought glossy cardstock". I could actually wipe away all of the soot, even after letting the sealer dry for hours.
* Maybe it was too cold in the room where where you were working. Sometimes in really cold (below 50 F) a spray can doesn't really work -- only air comes out.
* Maybe the can needs more shaking. If the "rattle" inside the can does not stir up the ingredients really well, then what comes out is the solvent without the sealer.
Hope this helps. I too used the same brand of sealer that is in Beate's tutorial and mine worked very well.

I've had both of the items impact my cards. I hate the smell of the stuff, so I spray outside or in the garage--temp makes a huge difference. An ample coating is also necessary. Your cs should look wet and glossy when done spraying--no "dry" looking areas.
Ok, this is really wierd, but the workable fixative did not work for me! I had to use the stuff Beate used...but all I had of that was a gloss finish (still looked great). I did the colored soot stamping...wonder if that makes a difference?
I used the cheapest hair spray I could find. (do not use the pump kind just the areosol). I give the card 2 light sprays and let it dry in between. Haven't had any trouble at all and the ATC's I did get a lot of handling. Good luck
