I made my first shaker card this week.....I used micro beads in it, with paper punched shapes and it was hard to make everything move...do you think the problem was the combination of paper and beads or am I using the wrong beads?????
I wouldn't have combined two mediums, especially one that isn't particularly shakeable. Stick with glitter or glitter/salt combo or sequins or micro beads. HTH (Since you're a newbie, that means hope this helps!) Welcome aboard.
I've combined glitter and microbeads with success before, as well as glitter and sequin confetti... I think the paper might have thrown off the 'shakiness'! Give it a go with sequins instead of paper confetti and see what happens.
I love shaker cards!

Reason: typo
Actually, punched out paper shapes should shake around in there just fine.
What I think may be the issue is that you don't have enough "gap" between the back wall of the shaker and the front window? OR, is it possible that you "overloaded" the window with too much filler? It could also be that the filler is getting "stuck" to the tacky/sticky residue of the foam mounting material you used to create the gap. . . .

I have been trying to make a shaker card with glitter and have been very frustrated. It seems the window sheets (at least the ones I have) have so much static that the glitter just sticks to the sheet and won't shake around. It works fine with micro beads, but they are expesive compared to the two very large containers of glitter that I already have and really want to use. I have a Christmas Card workshop coming up and I need to place my order ASAP. I don't want to order micro beads if I don't have too. I have seen several shaker card samples with glitter so I know if can be done. PLEASE HELP ME. I have tried dryer sheets and even static guard (too wet) without any luck at all. I'm desperate.
I wonder if the Embossing Buddy would help cut down your static problem. I've only used it twice since it arrived Thursday for my holiday cards, but it might be worth trying.
Ditto what Julie said and about the Embossing Buddy. I don't have one yet but have heard dryer sheets or swiffer cloths are supposed to work in a pinch. What I do for shaker cards is get ink jet- printable acetate. I make the boxed shiney side up so that the rough side is inside the box. I started making shaker boxes like that just because it was the only kind I had and I didn't want the rough side out. Yesterday I did a small shaker box on the tag of my nieces Christmas gift using regular acetate and the static is unreal.

I use that same printable acetate and haven't had a problem with static. However, my glitter always seems to get stuck to the foam!! It shakes for the first few times and then nothing.
