Default Shabby Chic?

I have seen so many beautiful cards that use a technique that looks like crumpled up paper that has been sponged & stamped (I think). How do they do that? I'm pretty new to this and a lot of the more complex stuff baffles me until I get clear instructions! I know there are a LOT of talented people on this site, so I am sure someone can help me out. Thanks.

Cool Crumpled look

is this maybe when you cut a piece of tissue (not kleenex, but the kind you put in gift bags) bigger than your piece of cardstock. Then you stamp on the tissue and crumple it up really well. Cover your piece of cardstock thinly with liquid glue, uncrumple your tissue and stick it to the cardstock. Then flatten it out and fold the edges underneath. Very easy, very pretty - my kind of card.

This is a great technique if you have a piece of cardstock that's too crumpled to use. Wet it thoroughly then screw it up tightly. Spread it out and allow to dry (the slow way) or dry it with your heat gun (the quick way). You can leave it at that or step it up with the DTP (direct to paper) technique.

Take an ink pad and apply it directly to the crumpled cardstock. As your cardstock is now lumpy, the ink will only reach the raised parts and give you quite a cool effect.

You can also use the DTP technique on smooth cardstock - apply it to the edges and corners for a distressed effect.

However, I don't know about you, but whenever I see these techniques done by someone else I think they look fab. But if I do them myself, I tend to think they just look messy!

Hope this helps

Helen

I've also seen one like this called faux silk. It does look very shabby chic in style.
