I read on SCS once about how to tie ribbon w/o having it go the whole length of the back of the paper...I can't find the directions on how to do this anywhere.
All I can remember is that you tie it off and cut it in the middle, then tape your cut ends to the back of your layer....it works most times, but I know there was an actual measurement to use so that you aren't wasting ribbon.

I cut mine to 7" if I am going around the long way. I then take a bit of ribbon and tie a faux bow in the middle, or if I want a knot, I do that before taping to the inside of the card. If I want a bow, I make that seperate and use a sticky dot to adhere to the ribbon
