scratch and sniff technique!!

Can anyone please tell me how to do this technique - i would LOVE to demo it for my customers.

directions were in the last stampin success magazine - I found the best thing to not make it too grainy was sugar free jello. I thought the kool aid was too grainy, although it makes it more obvious that it IS a scratch & sniff card.

Okkkkkk - so sugar free jello would be the stuff to make Jelly with - am I right? Like its powdery and you just add water to it?
Just want to make sure since somethings are different for us here in OZ!
I was going to try it with cocoa to use with my Latte stamp set - you think that would work?

My understanding is the cocoa will work as long as it is the sugar free.

Hi you have to mix what ever you want the smell to be with clear embossing powder I think the ratio is one kook aid to 2 embossng powder. The reason you can not use something with sugar in is because it will burn with the heat gun. After you stamp your image with versa mark or pigment ink you sprinkle your mixed ingredients on to the image and then use heat gun to melt it being careful not to burn You can use cinnamon mixture too. What ever flavor jello or kool aid you use is what it will smell like and be the color of.

My SU consultant does a stamp club each month and we did this technique last month..it was really neat!
The directions we received say:
Stamp a bold style stamp first in color- then in versamark (lining up image with stamp-a-ma-jig...
mix 1 part sugar free drink or jell-o mix to 1 1/2 parts clear embossing powder- then heat emboss..
we used the "stinkin cute" set..

I am trying to prepare a card with this technique for my Stamp-a-stack classes next week. I have tried it with the plain kool-aid (no sugar and no sugar substitute) and it was grainy. I was disappointed even though I could tell that in last month's Stampin' Success the image looks different than when stamped with our inks. I am going to try the sugar free jello idea though. Hopefully, I'll have the same results as was posted on here earlier and can get rid of some of the "grainy-ness." Thanks!

I was inspired by this thread I tried it with sugar free jello last night. I used an embossing pen that had a bluish tint so the image is a little bluish and has some texture. However, it is kind of nice that it looks a little different to help the person know to scratch and sniff. The scent is a little light but OK. It is a neat idea. Good luck, Kate

Has anyone tried this with baby powder? I saw some samples of this in the gallery, but don't remember seeing instructions with the posts. Do you use the heat and stick powder then, or mix 1 to 1?

I'm not sure if it would be any different than the hot chocolate, just seems like it would be since it isn't food.
