Default Scratch & Sniff Card Ideas

I would love to do a scratch & sniff card for my stamp camp in September. I have never done one, but it doesn't sound too hard reading other posts. My question is does anyone know if you can use hot chocolate or something to get a cinnamon smell. I would like it to be something for Christmas, but kool-aid obviously doesn't come in those flavors. Can anyone give me any suggestions of what you have tried for your scratch & sniff cards?

Thanks for any help.

I have only used sugar free koolaid. I don't see why you could'nt try the cinnamon. Make a sample and test it out. You would have to make the scratch and sniff area brown of course. Let us know how it works!

Thanks! I guess I'll play with cinnamon and see if it works. I'll keep you posted in what I find out.

Default Smelly Cards ;)

I've heard of people using cinnamon in embossing powder before in order to get it to smell good. I don't know about the chocolate I personally don't think hot chocolate has much of a smell. I've also heard of coffee bean grounds being used. There used to be ink pads out there that smelled good but I don't remember what brand and I think they got discontinued.

I have used cinnamon! I just mixed it with the clear embossing powder. I embossed a gingerbread stamp and it came out pretty cool! I have also used it with a leaf stamp too.

I've tried and tried, but never had any luck with the scratch -n- sniff technique.

I have mixed cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice with clear embossing powder to make yummy smelling cards.

I've never tried it but I've heard that cocoa powder works. I read somewhere that you don't want to use anything with sugar in it because it will burn. If that's true, hot cocoa mix wouldn't work.

Ooh, love this idea, especially for kids' cards. Please post the directions as you know them.

I have used coffee but you have to put it in the blender on liquify to get it fine enough. You can combine coffee and cinnamon mixed together with the clear embossing powder. I did use a light brown embossing powder instead of clear so the color was stronger. I have also heard not to use anything with sugar, but I know they make sugar free cocoa. I would just experiment.

Hello,
I haven't tried the cinnamon with the embossing, but I have used it with the HEAT & STICK adhesive...on the moose from D.D. Pines. It was great. I then tried garlic on the wolf from the Wolf set - smelled up my stamp room, but didn't look so great. LOL
