Can anyone tell me how this technique is done? I have seen some really beautiful cards done with this and am very curious.

Thanks!!

Here's what I do that uses plastic wrap. I use it for backgrounds.

I take a piece of plastic wrap and wad it up. Then, I pounce that wad on the ink pad and then pounce it on the paper. It makes a fun background.

I used it on this card.

HTH!

Can you use more thank one color - different pieces of saran wrap?

You can use as many colors as your little heart desires! And I would suggest using a different piece of plastic wrap for each color. I did another card with two different colors in the back. It turned out pretty cute, too!

Thanks for letting us in on this technique. I have seen some pretty cards on here that used it........and it seems so simple and you don't have to buy an extra stamp set or tool to do it. Yaaaaaaaaaayyyy.

I have quite a few samples of this in my gallery. I have also heard you can use an old grocery bag and do the same thing with it. I love doing this, and love the look! I have used my spectrum pads to make some different colored one, I just wipe the wrap on a baby wipe before reinking up the plastic!

Cheap and looks great! Two big pluses in my book!

Default Saran Wrap

I love this technique and it's soooo easy. You can also use aluminum foil for a different look too! I did the saran wrap at a make and take and everyone seemed to really enjoy it because it wasn't difficult or time consuming.

Default saran wrap technique??

I do a Saran Wrap (or any plastic wrap) technique as well, but I do mine differently. Maybe it has a different name . . . ?

Anyway, tear off a piece of plastic wrap and wad it up. Then unwad it, but don't completely smooth it out.

Scribble two or three colors of markers onto it, using the lightest color first. I use the brush end of the SU! markers and kind of use them horizontally - more coverage that way.

Spritz lightly with water.

Put a piece of glossy cardstock onto the mess you have made, glossy side down.

Peel the cardstock off of the plastic wrap and check out your new background! Of course, you have to let it dry before you stamp on it . . .

I think this is marker batik? I do this also, but prefer it on USW instead of glossy - it gives them a more muted, watercolor effect. I have a card with the retired Fish Frolics set that I really need to post. Maybe I can get to it this weekend.

Hey Karen,

I never tried it on USW - thanks for the tip! I love this technique with Fishy Friends and Lovely as a Tree!

I love to use blues on USW, then stamp the fish with spectrum pads on vellum and overlay. That's the card I need to upload!

You can use the crumpled up Saran Wrap with regular classic inkpads, haven't tried it with craft pads, but it's also very pretty using the chalk
inkpads.

Default saran wrap

I seen in I think somerset studio last year that they took a piece of saran wrap folded it in half then on the inside they used glitter, fibers, or threads and beads. They then shrunk it so it stuck together, cut a shape out of the center and stamped it . Well I would think you would stamp the CS first then adhere the saran wrap

If any of you get a chance to try it I would love to see your results
