I don't use the awesome cleaner but I wonder if it says do not use on glass because it streaks?
Ants .. arghhh, my exterminator told me to spray the ants with any household cleaner (409, windex, etc.) and then don't wipe it up for a day. He said it distroys the scent trail and kills the little buggers. But it doesn't kill the nest. He put stuff around the outside of the house to kill the nest. You found out the secret that I paid someone to tell me LOL
Good thinking, I didn't think of that. Streaking may be the reason, the label didn't say why.
Thanks for stating your wisdom. We do, now, spray the outside around the foundation for them with poison from Lowe's and it helps tremendously. It seems, they're everywhere on our property now. Yes, my post was so long and ants are off topic, I omitted that after killing 'em and cleaning the area, I did spray again and left it. It doesn't dry off nor make a gooey mess, just cleaner sittin' there. Sandi

One of the things Tim (Holtz) told me was that cheap shampoo diluted will work great...he says that's why you don't use it on fresh colored hair...it takes out the color. soooo...I'm already using cheap shampoo...why not get some extra use out of it. it works great...but I had never thought to use glycerine...now I have to go shopping...uhhh. Great post...glad I happened upon it today.
Make your own Stamp Cleaner, a copy cat of SU's.

I make my own scrubber as recommended by SCS'ers here. I buy a pkg. of 2 replacement wall paint edgers then cut them down to fit into empty SU! bubble stamp cases. You can use anything to store them in.. even a ziploc baggie! For bigger stamps, I take the trimmer out and hold it in my hand to scrub the stamp. These edgers are the same thing you pay $10-$12 for from stamp companies which have the single or double sided, flat, snap-close plastic case. To verify a bit.. the edgers are to paint the edge of the wall at ceiling and baseboards.

Help! The edger replacement pads that I purchased have a metal backing on them, so they can't be cut down. Is there some way to remove the metal backing or did I buy the wrong kind of edger replacement pad? If I bought the wrong type, please let me know what brand I should look for and where I can buy them.

What a great idea to use the paint thingies! And thanks for the tip of not buying the metal ones. I think you can get plain old plastic ones at Lowes...
I dilute my stampin' mist about 50% with water. Works great for me! The only reason I started diluting it was because I read about it on here. And I'm cheap!
However!!! when I clean my stamps I ALWAYS stamp off on paper to get most of the ink off, then, when I have a freshly cleaned 'washer/dryer' I mist the stamp directly then use the 'wet' side of the washer/dryer, then the dry side. After a couple of times cleaning stamps this way.. and only a couple, I spritz water on the washer/dryer to get it really wet. my stamps get clean, and the SM is actually diluted in this manner, however, when I have stubborn stamps or ones that are intricate then I have the SM in full strength to use. The next time I get ready to stamp and the washer/dryer is dry then I just mist it with water to rejuvinate it. You can smell the clean smell of the SM when it is rejuvinated and it cleans great. So,... I do dilute it .. just not in the bottle and it lasts a long long time and, on those occasions you need it full strength, you have it!

I'm a newbie here. I've been using the simple green recipe for about a year now & it works great. However, I never heard anything about the blender pens. I didn't realize there was anything in them! My one from SU is really stained! So, I should make up the recipe and then set the whole pen in it, or do I have to refill it?? I think I'm having a mp moment here and just can't understand what to do.

I just made up the recipe and put it in a used pill bottle. I set my pens down in the bottle, tip down and "stuffed" some paper towels around between the pen and the top of the bottle to keep the pens straight (I used a larger bottle - 90 day supply) and let them absorb the solution. I have been using them now since Spring and they are working great! Hope this helps!

So you did NOT take the ends (nibs?) out of the pen...maybe they don't even come out?? dunno...hahaha
Just stood your pens upright and stored them in the pill bottle w/solution
and voila!! Easy enough for ME...

I didn't "store" my blender pens in the solution - just let them soak for an hour or so and then recap them. Some people do say they put the solution on the tips with eyedroppers and I believe, I did read one post that said they pulled the tips out with tweezers and soaked and put them back in. This method is way easier - just need to wipe off the pens a bit as the glycerin is a bit "sticky". You clean the pens as you use them by wiping on a scrap piece of paper until the liquid on the paper is clear. I don't know of any way to get the stains out - but, if you wipe them on the paper each time you use them, you are okay.

I use the Dove blender pens and the nibs pull out fairly easily and are in fact replaceable (which I love...the pens last forever) There's an absorbant thinggy inside the Dove ones that absorbs more "juice" so it stays moist for a fairly long while...

I bought my blender pens at this site too...I bought in bulk (to save a few bucks) and shared the savings with a couple of friends.....and I like to work with several at a time and keep a couple tucked away for a rainy day.
This is amazing! I was thinking about putting some SU blender pens on my order but they are about $10 for three. At the site you mentioned, they are much less expensive. Thanks queensuzanne, you really are a queen!
Just so y'all know, glycerin is available in a lot cake decorating sections, too. It's used to make Royal Frosting, which is what a lot of cake bakers use. I usually find it in Walmart, too. Most times in the pharmacy.

The barrel of the Dove Blending pen IS hollow. You take the end-cap off the opposite end from the tip, and pour in the Dove Blender fluid. The cap is NOT easy to get off....I do it with very small pliers. There is a large reservoir, so you can use the pen for a very long time without refilling it, and certainly you never have to take the time to soak the tip as your only means of refilling. It's very quick and easy, once you get that cap off, especially the first time when the cap seems stuck.
