Default Recipe for Stamp Cleaner

Hi,
Well I have just spent an hour looking through the site here and can't find it. So could someone please post the directions for the stamp cleaner that has glycerin in it, please?
Also the recipe for refilling the blender pens.
Thanks very much,
Dorothy E

2 Tablespoons glycerin (in the Rx dept.)
8 oz. distilled water
1 teaspoon baby wash

Hope this helps!

Dorothy,

Here is the recipe for the Dove Blender you also needed.

2 teaspoons glycerin
4 teaspoons distilled water
1/4 teaspoon rubbing alcohol

It says you do not need to pull the blender tip out, just use an eye dropper. This will go a long way so don't double it!

HTH

Hee! Hee! You can buy it by the baby lotion and powder.....usually in a light yellow bottle (Baby Magic or Johnson's) It's gentle, liquid soap for washing a baby.

Ok, I have to ask, the stuff you put in the blender pen, is it to clean the pen or is it used to paint with on cardstock like the Future Floor Wax? I know I am going to feel really dumb, but, I got to know.

It is to refill the blender pens with the same thing that comes with it. You use it to color on the cardstock along with wwc or wcp.

I recently made my own cleaner, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about it's ability to work as well as SU's cleaner. WELL, I'm really impressed. I can use my cleaner abundantly without fear of using it all up because I can just make more! It works fabulously!

Hi,

Does anyone know what the glycerine does? I was thinking the diluted baby wash would clean the stamps and condition them. Just wondering.

Thanks very much,

On the bottle of glycerin it says "skin protectant", so I can only guess that it protects the rubber from the "detergent" effect of the baby wash. While I think that the baby wash and distilled water alone would clean your stamps, the main reason for using a good stamp cleaner would be to also prolong the life of your stamps, which is what the glycerin does. (that's what I THINK anyway...I'm no chemist) :-D

Do you think you have to use Distilled water? What about bottled water or tap water?

I'm not a chemist, so I can't answer for certain, but various locations differ with the degree of chemicals and calcium, etc. that is in the tap/drinking water. I would think that distilled water is used to make sure that you aren't coating your stamps with anything that would cause hardening...like the hard water stains around my drains that require lime-away to remove. That is my thoughts on why they recommend distilled water (which is pure of any chemicals like lime/calcium/salts).

Default Newbie Question??

Hi I'm a new demo in Austraila and love reading all your lovely advise thanks so much for sharing. I was just wondering the blender pens you are talking about refilling are they the ones SU sells or is Dove another brand you get over there?

Also if someone can tell me how to clean the tips I would very much appreciate it. i've only had them 3 months and already they are discoloured and a bit frayed!

Thanks so much

Hay Ya'll, don't forget the CHLORINE that's added to our city water! Also, soda ash.. which I think is a water softener, and flouride for our teeth. Sometimes, we can smell and taste the chlorine in the water. We have to let the water run for a few minutes to get fresh water in the lines before drinking it. This is a very strong, caustic chemical. It's about the only thing that kills the Aids virus.. what hospitals use to disinfect. So it can't be too good for rubba.. even at greatly reduced levels. I'm going to make this stamp cleaner recipe.. already have the glycerine! I've been using a 30 to 1 (water) ratio of Simple Green and it cleans great! But now I want to do follow up w/ this cleaner to condition them. I just can't afford the $6. for tiny bottle of cleaner.

Just curious if you have an estimate on how long this stuff keeps.
Thanks

Those of you who use diluted Simple Green, do you also add glycerin to your solution for conditioning? I'm trying to find a cheap, yet effective, alternative too. I've been using diluted baby wash but it just doesn't get the darker colored inks off.

They sure wouldn't sell as much cleaner if they told us to dilute it. $$$$ maker for them!

I do not add glycerin to my Simple Green. I've used diluted SG, but it's cheap enough to use straight with better results in my opinion. In fact last night I used it on a stamp that my mom had used about 4 years ago and it was terribly stained. I sprayed some undiluted SG let it sit for about 3 minutes and the stamp cleaned up nicely. It still has a faint sign of the silver ink that was on it, but not much.
