Default Pure Color Pencils Help???

I bought a set of SU pure color pencils two years ago, and I have never used them. I'm not sure how.

I vaguely remember using them in a techniques class with paint thinner, but I don't remember exactly how we did it. Can someone help me?

Stacey

Thanks for asking such a good basic question. I am totally new to stampin and trying my best with very little knowledge. I have noticed many of you color your images. I stamped an image last night for a card swap with "Versa" ink pad in black. I waited till it dried 100%. I have your basic set of colored pencils, but later reached for markers and even gel pens to obtain the effect I wanted.
There has to be an easier way or something to bring out the beauty of using pencils. What are the products that need to be purchased to have fun colors on your stamped images. Gamcol, blender pens, stumps all is greek to me.

The gamsol is actually a brand name for odorless mineral spirits. You can find it at Michaels or Hobby Lobby under the Mona Lisa name...make sure it says 100% odorless mineral spirits on the back. I think the front says paint thinner or something like that.

The blending stumps can be found in the same places...I like getting mine at Hobby Lobby though...the ones made in Taiwan are better quality. You can find them where all the markers and artist pencils are.

Lots of places sell blending pens. Stampin' Up! has one that is good for the chalks, inks, and markers. I think Copic and Prismacolors have their own blenders for their products. It just depends on what you are doing to which blender pen you need.

Hope this helps a little. You can find a tutorial under Resources for using Gamsol and blending stumps with Prismacolor pencils (or Pure Color pencils from SU! if you have those). I think it's called Gamsol Magic.
