Pullin' Pastels??

I am trying to figure out how to do a technique called Pullin Pastels. I saw a wonderful card in the gallery that used this technique, but I have never heard of it. Is it anything like Poppin Pastels?

I found it!

Pullin Pastels...rub pastels onto dark cardstock as a BG, then stamp with v-pad inked stamp...will lift off pastels and leave dark image

Translation: as a Background, then stamp with a Versamark pad inked stamp.

as a BACKGROUND, then stamped with the VERSAMARKED INKED stamp.

The versamark pulls the pastels off and leaves a negative image.

Do you need to seal the background paper after doing this technique so the chalk doesn't rub off?

You can use your tail to pull off some of it too.

I don't think you need to set the chalks.

this is beautiful done. I just did one at a workshop....we used NON cardstock. Rubbed chalks on it,then stamped Frosty and snowflakes, very pretty. We embossed some in white too.

Stampinstalker - what color chalk did you use with the NON cardstock? I am trying to design a Happy Holidays card and that sounds really beautiful.

I think I read somewhere that you would seal this type of card with an aerosol (sp?) hairspray. Just spray a very fine mist over the card. You can do this when you use pastels or pearl ex.

Silly question but what is NON cardstock? Sounds like a great technique. I would like to try it.

NON= Night of Navy (SU! color)

I tried the pearl-ex technique last week, and it looked great...until I tried to seal it. I was playing with little sample pieces and sealed one with hairspray and one with Krylon clear. Both turned dull and the Krylon developed a light whitish-chalky look. Ugh. Any suggestions??
