I have a couple of cards in my gallery that use polished stone that have received alot of good comments, both in person and on this site, you can check them out.

I also suggest real red and yoyo yellow or black and cameo coral, I have seen them and they are really eyecatching.

Is there a tutorial somewhere around here on how to do this technique? I've seen it, and it looks really nice, but I've never found directions on how to do it.

Gold and Silver wiping off (GRRRRRRRRRR)

I am trying the polished stone technique for the first time. I did them up a few days ago, then tonight I picked them up to use them. The silver and the gold came off on my fingers!

I used alcohol, re-inkers together on a cotton ball and blotted Glossy white. Looks great, but............I just tried sealing with hairspray and that isn't working completely either.

I hope someone can help me.

It takes awhile to dry, but dry it does! Just be patient if you can.

I love copper, rose romance and old olive--really cool color combo.

To do this: You must do it on glossy cardstock. Get cotton balls (the jumbo ones work well; don't use the cotton squares, ask me how I know! ;)), alcohol and 3 reinkers, one being a metallic.

Get a cotton ball wet. I hold it to the alcohol bottle until I feel it seeping through to the other end and stop. You don't necessarily want it dripping wet, but wet enough.

Dot some metallic ink from the reinker bottle onto the wet cotton ball and blot, twist, wipe around on the cardstock. Remember, you are going to repeat this process with 2 other colors so don't completely fill the sheet of cardstock entirely with the metal ink.

Then repeat these steps with the other 2 colors... blotting, twisting, or wiping.

Hopefully you'll see this image as a sample.... in this one I used brilliant blue and green galore with copper.

Give it a try... if you want to practice, you can always cut your cardstock into 4 pieces and try on a smaller piece! Good luck!

Your sample is just beautiful! I sure hope they don't retire Wonderful Wings!

I made some polished stone cards recently with Mauve Mist, Going Gray and Silver Encore, I was really pleased with them. Here's a link to one of them:

I also read somewhere a great way to play with new color combinations is to just close your eyes, reach in the box of reinkers and grab two or three! I'll have to try this someday. Just be sure and write down all your favorites.
