I am so happy to see this thread! I bought some quilling supplies recently and have just been playing with my stuff. I have been making some fringed flowers to use on some of my cards.
be sure to share your projects here won't you; love to do show and tell, quilling!
I recently taught a quilling class and I showed everyone how to quill chocolates. You can put them on cards or place them in a cute little chocolate box. Hope you enjoy them, but don't eat them. After all, they are made out of paper! You can learn how to make them HERE!
Also, Archana who started this thread is my artist of the month. Congrats Archana, great work!
Since I did a video on quilling a kitty cat I thought it only fair to make a video on quilling a dog. You can find it HERE. Thanks for watching all my quilling videos! Much appreciated......maybe you'll give it a go.

I bet those of you in Mumbai get some really beautiful paper to use for making cards and scrapbooking.
I've posted in another forum - a request for information/feedback on any quilling fringer.
Has anyone here used one or own one and if so, what of the results?
Are you happy with the cutting/petals? Fine enough?
Has the device remained stable and not fallen apart?
I have been advised that some models do and I'd be dissapointed to part on the investment only to find it did this.
Many thanks.
Carole,
Hi! I have been quilling for about 30 years now. I have owned only 2 fringers in my quilling time. I have been fortunate that both of them I have are wonderful. The first one I gave to someone and I bought the 2nd one for me. I think it's totally worth the investment rather than cutting each little piece at a time.
I recommend Denise's shop for your quilling fringer. She is a great quiller and even has her own store. She has been quilling I think for as long as I have. If you have any other questions I would be happy to help.
Here's a link to here store HERE to check out her quilling supplies.
I have a problem with our post office when it comes to mailing my cards with Quilling on them.
Recently I got charged an extra 20 cents surcharge saying it was non machinable. It weighed under an ounce.
How are you mailing without getting crushed or getting them to go through the machine without a surcharge.

You could try using a piece of bible wrap stuck in the envelope on the quilled side. Depending how elaborate you've gotten it should work. Other than that you will probably have to pay the extra postage. People have the same issues if they put lots of embellishments on their regular cards. Some prefer to make cards flat if they are to be sent by mail. Save the fancy stuff for hand carried cards. Good luck!
I purchase the manilla envelopes with the bubble wrap already adhered inside and mail quilled cards that way - unfortunately it is extra cost for the envelope and for postage. I believe that any cards with bulky embellishments will not go through the postal machines and have to be hand cancelled/processed - hence the extra cost. Sorry that I do not have any better suggestions. . . I usually hand deliver quilled cards or use them attached to a gift or buy the envelopes mentioned above.
Are you all using the 1/8 in. quilling paper on your cards? I admit I haven't quilled on any cards yet but all my paper is 1/4 in. and I am reluctant to go buy all new paper for my cards. Just curious....

I actually cut my own strips to use for quilling. I cut then from cardstock, and then I drag the stirp over the edge of my table a couple of times, on both sides, to make the paper more workable =)
The "standard" if you can call it that is 1/8" strips. But, having said this, you can use whatever size you want. The 1/4" on a card gives it more dimension and if this is the look you like then go with it! I started with 1/8" and love this size, but recently I have been playing with the 1/4" and love the look. You can also vary the strip size in your projects for even more interest. I admire those who cut their own strips. 1/8" isn't easy for me to cut, and get it straight! lol! Use what you have, it will be beautiful. Post a picture if you can, I'm sure we would all love to see it!
I use 1/8" that I cut myself out of designer paper. I roll them up and then colour the ends with my ink pads or markers. I tend to "layer" my designs (stack more than 1 piece on top of each other) so it ends up being quite dimensional and if I did 1/2" it would probably be too big to go in an envelope. I will use 1/4" if it's a "flat" design to give it more depth.
Hi quillers, we are trying to get a group of Houston TX area quillers together to meet and quill, and any who want to learn to quill. I started a thread here: TX - Houston area Quillers by sea777 at Splitcoaststampers for anyone who would like to get together or knows anyone who would. Hope to hear from you!
Hello! I just found this thread!! I LOVE TO QUILL!! I don't have any in my gallery as I am horrible about uploading projects but I love to look and chat. I love to make flowers fro my cards and have recently just started a Hippo So far so good.
Thank you to all the ladies on this thread, have just spent a whole afternoon reading and visiting all the blogs and links. Such talent, given me a whole lot of new projects to try, again thank you
hi all! i just found this thread too - i ADORE quilling though i am a total beginner. funny how i have a LOAD of supplies already tho *sigh* anyway i just wanted to give a shout out to my two MOST favorite shopping spot for quilling:
Quilled Creations - they have AWESOME kits and sets to get started plus i have two of her books and just love them. the glue that came in my beginners kit is AWESOME. dries super duper fast. Alli also has amazing precut specialty papers. i am hoping to add some of those to my collection soon - they look really cool!
i did some quilled cards this weekend but they were for a magazine so i am not allowed to post them, however i have a card to make today that i plan on using some quilling for so i will post it later
I used to use a needle to apply the glue to the end of paper. Put a drop of glue on wax paper and go from there. I also let my flowers and leaves dry on the wax paper too. It was easy to peel off and then apply where I wanted them. Hope this helps out.

Thanks. I do use wax paper. I just mean do you find it harder to work with and glue 1/8in. paper? I think people will have to deal with me using 1/4in. paper because I'm not going out and buying a bunch of new paper right now. ;)
What glue do you all use- Ladies in the US? I started using Tacky glue but still wasn't happy with how long it took adhere. Of course, I haven't guilled in a long time. I'm working myself up to it!
Quillingsuperstore.com is having a 50% off sale on their fringers through July 20th. I'm still debating. Would you all purchase one again if you have one now? TIA!
