Finally got to take three pics of projects from about ten years ago now. Two I made up myself, paper-sculpting rather than quilling, but still easy to put together; the yellow flower and the purple fan-flower. The purple fan-flower actually needs more added to it to be finished but it gives you an idea at least as to how you can construct any flower you like to. Just look at how a flower is made up and follow the shapes in paper. The red waratah (an Australian native), is from a kit/not my design. Both the red waratah and the yellow flower are framed, so the photographs aren't so good because of this.
I do have one other that is almost finished, so I will do that and scan it too when I can complete it - it's the Sturts Desert Pea (Australian Native also).

Your creations are absolutely gorgeous... Wow! Its amazing..
I've recently put out a video-tutorial on how to quill a tulip design. Check my blog, or go straight to YouTube and see my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgUQwm7iits
Paper Quilling is the cheapest hobby I ever tried. !!
Here are 3 places that are very reliable to deal with for Quilling paper and stuff.
"Lake City Crafts" is the company that produces the Quilling paper in the USA. They have retail and wholesale divisions and have been around for decades
http://www.quilling.com/index.htm
************************************************** *
"Whimsiquills" is owned by Pat Caputo She has a massive Blog with most questions answered . She has been Quilling for decades and is a founding member of the North american Quilling Guild.
Her Blog: http://quillingwithwhimsiquills.blogspot.com/
Her Store: http://www.whimsiquills.com/servlet/StoreFront
**************************************
The third site, "Quilled Creations" is run by a woman named Ali
Her site is new in the past few years
She has written a book or two , has a "great forum" and sells Quilling paper and supplies. I have ordered from her and she is reliable. However, I prefer Lake City Or Whimsiquills "paper ". Ali's other things are great
The Forum is on the left side of the screen in the green box http://www.quilledcreations.com/default.asp

I am sure there are others, but these are the companies I have dealt with.
Hope this helps any one wanting to learn paper Quilling

o.k. here is the Sturts Desert Pea paper-sculpture with some just the quilling seed pods (black) at their centres.
I wish there was a place here that I could take classes on quilling. I purchased supplies when I started taking classes at a store that went out of business. Hopefully I will find someone who teaches.
I wish you lived here........I teach classes in my state. I do post tutorials on my blog. I am slowly starting with easy things and will move to advanced items as I progress. I wish you luck in finding some classes as it is a great art to learn!
This thread has been GREAT!! I've been wanting to try quilling and had the tool and some strips but never got around to it. After reading this thread, finally got the supplies together and started and absolutely LOVE it! Did my first card making fringed flowers and was SO happy with it! Hobby Lobby carries a few supplies but does have a few of the kits from Lake City Craft at a ridiculously low price ($3?) so if you're wanting to try it, you won't be breaking the bank!!
Quilled flowers , Fringed flowers and Butterflies look great on cards. Once you have the Quilling tool, glue , some sewing pins with heads on them and some paper strips you can make embellishments for pennies.
I use a piece of cork from Walmart with wax paper over it. The glue won't stick to the wax paper. I bought a couple of templates with 6 rows of 6 different sizes of circles for 99 each at an art store and use those to make identical coils.
You can also use up old DP by putting it through a strip paper shredder

this is a video on how to make quilled roses... very well explained and the roses are gorgeous.. try making these .. they can really enhance a simple card.
I ordered Lake City's a free catalog. It has several new kits and paper they didn't have when I last did Quilling. I am ordering the Jeweltones, Pearlized and Watercolor papers
They also sell this paper in 8 1/2" x 11" for those who cut their own.
I just got back from Joann's and got the book New Concepts in Paper Quilling and it is AMAZING!! Lots of modern, new ideas on quilling and flowers using punches. Used a 40% off coupon, too!! Just trying to figure out how such an inexpensive hobby is starting to cost me so much money :-)

you've got to have all the necessary tools and reading ..... Be inspired and enjoy this beautiful paper craft.
I finally did my first quilling video! It came out with low volume and 2 intros...yay for me! I'm learning! But I thought you all would like to take a peek at it on my blog as I have a special celebration giveaway for my first video venture!
Skip over to my blog and watch the video and see the goodies HERE
Hi quillers! I haven't been on this forum but just a while and didn't know there was a quilling thread, or should I say "strip", lol! Glad to see others who are, or have been into quilling. I love it, and have found paper soul! It also led me card making and now I am using quilling on them also. My blog which has most of my quilling either in posts or on the slide shows is at: www.appelquilling.blogspot.com . I will have to make a gallery for my quilled cards and such. I have looked at the quilling posted and it is great! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks for your kind comments. I have been inspired by other quillers who have some amazing art. When I first started quilling I desperately needed help with technique, design, really everything and I found the yahoo quillers fourm. These talented quillers are so gracious and love to help with any questions, or, share patterns, tips or whatever! I haven't been active on it for a few months and need to get back with the friends I made there! If you haven't found it yet, check it out, they have tons of pictures in the gallery! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/quillers/ It's easy to sign up. If you are already in the group, I'll see you there! Thanks for following my blog, you and my other blogger friends truly do encourage me! I love your "book page" idea! Thanks again!

Archana - thanks for giving us all the nudge to get together :-)
I use to teach quilling but got away from doing any of it when I retired to write and play with stamps. :-) When things settle down around here and the book is finished, I'll get my stuff back out to play.
Creative Blessings

I've been a lurking member of the yahoo quillers group for a couple of years now and have quite a few sites that show impressive work bookmarked on my PC. Here's one to check out: http://quillingfromtheheart.com/my_f...e_up/index.htm
As mentioned a few days ago, I gave it a try and it is fun! I know that it is my own made up pattern and the effort is just an embellishment, it is a start! Here it is...

I always have to quill on something! I thought I would share some altered coasters that I turned into post it note holders. I was excited to get my new paper from the Stampin' Up! Sale - A - Bration. So here's what I did with my new paper and some quilled flowers.

Ack! You have to wait until you get the email saying your image has been approved! I happened to be online and immediately went to the pic and the full size version wasn't available yet. I get so disappointed that I have to wait.

Eeeek, sorry. You can see them on my BLOG though. Sorry about that
I wanted to share some of the new eggs I made for easter. Well one isn't that new. The red one is done using the tutorial I have on my blog, you can see the tutorial here. Thanks for looking! Here are the pics:
I was looking over my posts the other day on my blog and in all the time I've been giving tutorials I haven't ever given the basics of quilling. The shapes are very important in all the quilling you do. So here's a copy for you to use as reference and to practice. This will help you on future projects and tutorials I have for you.
