Hello, Here's my question,
The paint cans are great, but how exactly do you wrap the paper around them, what size paper do you use and, which glue do you use?
As far as paper size, I guess. Not much help there, but as far as adhesive it is the Tacky Tape. It comes in rolls, I think 3 differant sizes, and is red (that part you pull off). SU! sells it in their catalog and it is called Sticky Strip (page 220). I use it for a lot of things other than on cardstock (paint cans, beaded pens, boxes). You can find it at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. HTH

Thanks. I'm just wondering about where the paper joins in the back for the seam. I've put another piece of paper under the one I am wrapping around but it looks kind of funny to me. I think I may be making this harder than it is! lol.
I think we posted about the same time. I think on the ones I made I put the seams in the back (they were given away at Christmas so I don't have them here). Hopefully someone will be able to help you with that or the template that I just posted a minute ago will help.
Have fun! They are fun to make.

I buy the paint cans at Home Depot. Also, for the large (gallon) cans I use two 12x12 sheets of cardtock and put the seams on the sides, under the handle.
I have a question about the handles on the gallon paint can - I bought mine at Home Depot as well but cannot figure out how to get the handle out. Is there an easy way to do this? I figure if I can't get it out I'll have to cut slits by the holes on the template to be able to slip it on. Is there an easier way to do this I'm just not thinking of?
I buy mine at ACE Hardware. Cheaper than HD.
I use 8.5x11 cardstock and measure from handle to handle...I put the seam on the sides. I tend to use more than one paper so this size works fine. I run my paper through Xyron first then use sticky strip at ends or the rim of can.
I taught a class at a scrapbook store using a one gallon paint can. I used 12x12 paper and I used two different patterned paper and one solid color. I had the solid color as a bold stripe in the middle going all the way around. When i got to the part where the handle is, I used a circle punch to cut out exactly where I needed it to so the paper would fit around the can nicely. I used glue dots just at each end of the paper. I didn't apply adhesive to the entire sheet of paper. Glue dots worked nicely for me. ;) Hope this helps.

What did you use to cut the perfect size circle for the lid of the cans? I have some thoughts on it, but wanted to hear what others have used?
Oh man, I left all my stuff at the store tonight; we had our Friday night midnight crop, so I can't look at the name of the template I used. I bought it at our store and they came in a package of 4 templates I believe, and they were purple plastic things. OH I think it's Fiskars! I used my circle cutter from Fiskars to cut the circle out. It worked really well and to cover the edge of the paper once i stuck it on, I just glued a fat fuzzy yarn all the way around to cover that paper edge. Does that answer your question?? Sorry I don't have more info...

Ok.. I have just been working on the paint can, and I figured that if I was going to have seams anyway, that I would just move the seams in the template so that the circles are 1/2 on each piece, and then the seams run around the part where the handle attaches. The smallest colluzzle circle is just the right size.
I attached the paper with 2 sided tape that is acid free, that they sell at the dollar store. (That way, you can use tons and not worry about the cost.)
Anyway, so far, so good.
Hope the suggestions help.
We just did paint cans (quart size) in a surprise class. We used the white wrapping paper that Stampin Up sells and sponge brayers color on to it (we did two tone). On one of the cans we used wrapping paper. We adhered them to the can with the sticky tape on both sides of the paper and it overlapped a little at the back seam.
