I have seen these all over the gallery and they are just too cute!! I went to one of the posts and saw a blog to go to and it said it had a link for the instructions but when I went to the link it said error and page has been removed. I did a google on candy cakes and all I'm getting are actual candy cakes people make. I did a search on how to make them on here and google and am getting nothing. Can anyone help me out? I'm hoping to make one for my nephew's birthday. Thank you in advance!!
The lady that has the instructions is using Hershey's Mini candy bars. You can buy larger bags and they are cheaper than the Nuggets. They are fun to make. I use the mini's

I did something a little different. I never did post...and I never had a chance to take pics...by the time I had the camera the hubby had half the candy off and was playing with the layers (men are such children sometimes). I'll have to make another with instructions. I acutally used 1" strips from a cereal box and made a circle. First I determined how many nuggets I could fit on the longest strip from the box and how many nuggets I would need for all the layers. This will vary depending on how big your cereal box is (we have large hungry mouths to feed...and they give some to the dog...we have very large cereal boxes). I made a circle a little larger than the size of the bottom layer and covered it with stamped cardstock. I cut the 1" strips how ever long I needed them for the layer of "cake" I was making plus an extra 2" and stapled the ends together to form a circle. I then used sticky strip (scor tape actually) to tape down the nuggets. I filled the middle with other candy (was for husband...so almonds and chocolates of all kinds) and put another cereal box circle covered in decorative paper over the top and started with a smaller layer...also filling with fun treats and a few little gifts...then another decorated circle...and finally the last layer. The "topper" was a "Happy Birthday" sign that fit inside the top layer. The easiest way for me was to lay the strip down and add all the nuggets...then staple the ends together leaving enough room to add the last nugget. I didn't like using the foam...and this way I could fill the layers with goodies as I went up the "cake". It was a very inexpensive "cake" to make...and fun too. I'll have to make another one and post a demo to my blog. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for letting me share.
Lisa, these instructions are SHEER GENIUS! I love the idea of using the cereal box cardboard so you can adjust the size of the circle to exactly fit your candy bars - and also not worry about the expense of the foam circles; and filling the inside of the layers with other goodies. Thanks for sharing this!
Lisa, That would be GRREAT if you make another with directions and share photos!! I also like the idea of using cardboard as the circle of s-foam would add to the expense, TFS!!
Very cute craftymom...Love the cupcake at the top and all the bright colors. It was nice to get a little reminder about this. I was thinking I should do a tutorial soon...but kept eating the chocolate and never did finish. Guess it's time to get more chocolate...lol
I've had several PM's regarding my version of the "cake"...so...I thought I would post a quick reply...
I'm going to be working on this starting sometime Sun. I'm preping for a class for Sat. I always bring chocolate to my students...so when I stop for chocolate for my class...I'll get chocolate for the "cake" and start the tut as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for all the responses. If I had thought about it before...I would have taken pics as I went along for hubby's...but I didn't...and of course...hubby was taking his apart before I could even get good pics...too funny really. OK...well...back to cutting paper for my class. For all those who are wondering what class...I'm in San Diego at the Stamp Addict teaching gift card holders. Have a great week & weekend...I'll get back to you Sun or Mon. :-D
Lisa, LOVE YOUR DOG CLOCK!!! I have two labs, one black (11 yr, Samantha) and one chocolate (10 1/2 yr, Molly) and two yellow "granddogs", Montgomery and Lucy. Love them!!! Oh, can't wait until you have time to do another nugget cake!!
