Hi there, Sue!
Are you using Basic Black classic ink from SU! or another waterproof ink? You'll need to make sure that your pad is waterproof to get the nice crisp lines.

If that's not it, what kind of paper are you using? The ink takes longer to dry on certain paper, and that might be it.

HTH,

Default Watercolors and Ink!

I really like using my India Black ink by TAC.
It take only a few seconds to dry. I do a lot of watercoloring on my cards.

But hey you can try your heat gun to dry your ink.
Also make sure you don't have tons of water in your Aqua brush.

I have tried watercolor pencils with an Aquapainter and also watercolor pencils and a blender pen on white cardstock from Wal-Mart. I believe Hammermill was the brand name.

Nice weight of cardstock.

Failure with watercoloring every time.

I believe SU cardstock (at least the lighter neutral hues) has a surface sizing that stablizes the waterproof inks.

I have worked with other brands of cardstock, some more expensive and some less expensive than SU cardstock, and prefer SU hands down for price, quality and my overall satistfaction.
