I know our SCS gals can answer this! ;)
Have you used microscope slides?
I'm wondering whether to order glass or the acrylic/plexiglass ones for stamping on cards.
If you use the glass, how does it seem to "stand up" to mailing/sharing?
Thanks for your suggestions & advice!
I just have to put in my two cents...I ordered some glass ones, and i stamped on it, then i melted some frozen opals on it for snow, then i attatched it to the card, and when attatching i broke the slide (i pushed down from the back side and since the front was not flat, it cracked) :? It broke VERY easliy, so I personally would not mail one with a glass slide on it, but I would hand deliver some!
There are mailers made especially for microscope slides.
Got to Artchix.com
Here's a killer technique you HAVE to try:
Made double sided piece of artwork & cut to fit in between slides.
Place it in between slides
Dip all four edges of slide "sandwich" into melted silver UTEE using melt pot.
VOILA! You have a miniature piece of artwork that looks like it was soldered with real solder!!!
If you don't have a melt pot for the UTEE, you can just paint embossing fluid along the edges and then dip into UTEE powder and melt it. Might take a few coats using this method though.
Oh man! That faux soldered slide art looks great! I've seen items that must have been 'faux soldered' & they looked terrific!! Thanks for sharing that, BansheeBarbie!
Yes, the plastic ones are very clear...at least the ones I have. I got mine from eBay from a Science Supply seller (wascisupply). Do a google or yahoo search for plastic microscope slides. You will pay less for them from a site or store that sells them as a science supply then a stamping web site.
Anita, that sounds like very good advice!
I know the www.microscope-depot.com sells as a science source. I don't remember the costs, but I will definitely compare before clicking to buy!
Thanks!
