Roxanne: Try this: right click on the file, then click "save target as..". Save it to your computer, then open it. If that doesn't work, try updating your Adobe reader to a newer version. Here's a link to the Adobe site: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
This will usually work, and is often quicker than waiting for someone to send you the file...;)
