Default Liquid Glue and MicroBeads (HELP)

Hey Folks,
I am new (under a year) to the whole stamping thing and I'm looking for some help here. I just entered into the wonderful world of microbeads. I am using the SU Liquid glue to adhere the beads and the directions say, "apply a thin layer of glue to the desired area."
Alright, when I apply what I would call a thin layer, the beads fall off. I tried with a thicker layer of glue, but then it looked bead crazy. Suggestions?
TIA-
Mary Catherine

I have had better luck with beads and sticky strip. I tried the crystal effects with beads once and made bead paste -- not pretty. The liquid glue may end up doing the same thing. Sorry -- that doesn't exactly answer your question...

Apply a thin but not teansy layer of glue allow to get tacky for a few seconds(30 or less?) apply beads, press beads down into glue with finger flat out and try to keep card flat until dry.

If that made sense at all....

Default I use sticky tape

I also use sticky tape. So much easier. I too tried the glue first, but didn't look good!

I hope this is not too far off target, but, what do all of you use the liquid glue for? Is it just another adhesive alternative or is there a special technique that works best with it? I am so lame - please help me use my llquid glue! Lynn

I use liquid glue to attach tiny things like cut outs or small beady eyes when you just need a tiny bit of glue.

For micro beads...I use Peel n Stick double sided adhesive. It comes in sheets. You can also make a stained glass effect with beads. Cut out the open areas of your stamped image. Put it on the adhesive sheet. Cut around it - peel it off and put beads on both sides. May sound confusing but it looks pretty cool. I'm doing that for a trading card swap. The sheets are flexible - even with the beads on.

Cool

I also use sticky strips for micro beads. Something fun to do with micro beads is to put them in the center of small flowers. First, take your sticky strip and use a hole punch to get a small round circle. stick it in the center of your flower and add beads!!! Fast, easy, and cool!

You can also use mini glue dot to adhere them to flower centers.

Great ideas with micro beads. I also use the sticky tape. That stuff is amazing. I bought it from M's for putting together the SU boxes since mono didn't hold. After a little heat, I thought my finger was permanently stuck to the box I made. I use the 2-way glue for glitter only.

I use the Sticky Strip for the most part to adhere the micro beads. For smaller areas I do use the 2-way glue. I apply the glue and put the beads on right away. Then don't touch it until it dries completely - preferably overnight. There is a card in the gallery under Winged Things that use both the sticky strip and the glue.
