Default How do you do a "floating" pop-up

Not sure quite how to describe what I want to do. I have a die-cut bat that folds in the center. I'd like to put it inside a card and have it move when I open it - what I see is opening the card and the bat opens its wings. I don't want to just glue it flat to the card matching up the foldlines. There must be some sort of a little piece to make to have it raised from the card and wings open when the card opens. Can anyone help?

Well, once again it was Google to the rescue. I located a good tutorial (actually two variations on the same blog) here: http://extremecards.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
If you're interested, it's Tutorial lessons 22 and 23, the floating tabletop.

Not sure if I am able to describe this properly. I made something like this a long time ago, with a strip of paper folded to form an inverted U shape, with little tabs at the ends to glue down to the card. When the card is open, the tabs are glued down, one on each side of the open card, with the fold of the card in the centre, such that the inverted U shape is upright and sides parallel. This way, you can attach your bat to the flat horizontal portion to make it look like it is floating. When you close the card, the mechanism folds itself flat. Hope this makes sense. =)
