Ok I bought a couple of tiles tonight when I was out. Now what? I did buy a spray on sealer. What can I use on the tile to stamp? What is safe. I bought 2 kinds of tiles. One is a glossy finish and the other is a matte slightly textured finish? Which is best? Please help!!

I use the rough textured tiles and I stamp with Staz-On inks. I color with chalks (Stampin' Pastels) and I seal the chalk part, only, with Crystal Effects. Then I put thick, self-adhesive felt tabs on the underside corners for the coasters and thick magnets on the back for tile magnets.
I've only used the smooth finished tiles with magnets. The same technique works well. I don't use smooth tiles for coasters. Maybe others have with good results?

Last night I added a few tiles to my gallery and I've had several ask how I did them. The tiles I used were the smoothest unfinished tiles I could find from Home Depot and Lowes.
When I do tiles I stamp with the StazOn and then I use my Pastel Pencils. They are softer than our pencils and more controlled than our pastels. The blend easy too. I can detail the shading on them which I love to do. When I'm done I spray with Patricial Nimock's sealers. Trick is, for mine, I do 2 layers of matte and then 2 layers of gloss to make them shine and pop.
Another trick I've done is I use a regular Kleenex tissue and our pastels and smudge the corners to get an aged effect or a night effect. You can see my tiles in my gallery to see what I mean.
Yep ~ I've done them with that too. I didn't want to drive Jen too crazy approving pics last night, but I have more at home that use the pastels and StazOn. I'll post them tonight and hope SCS approval team doesn't have my head for all the uploads I'm doing lately.

Great idea! I tried using my Watercolor Pencils on some tile magnets today and it worked great! Thanks for the tip!
I have some samples at my webshots site if you are interested. For some reason, I can never get my photos to upload here.

I was smart this morning and looked at my pencils that I frequently use. They are Schwan Stabilo Carbothello Colored Charcoal Pencils. The colors really do pop when I use these.
