Default how to color chipboard?

I have a customer wanting to color her chipboard, not cover it w/ paper. She wants to know if it's possible to successfully color on board chipboard with Stampin' Markers?
Thanks for your help,
Jessica

I used DTP pigment ink and then clear EP on this card:

If you use classic ink, the chipboard tends to absorb it and mute the color. For me, craft ink works the best. You could also use white craft ink, heat set and then sponge on classic ink.

It is possible but it will absorb a lot of ink so it is kind of hard on the markers. I recomment acrylic paint (fast and cheap) or Craft ink (which will take a LOT of time to dry)

I got some acrylic dauber paints, when LSS went out of business-so I may try that. TFS Yes craft ink does take a while to dry-that's why I like the EP-gives a beautiful shine and dries quickly

Paint, chalk inks, daubers. If you check out my site archives, I did a series of 12 or 13 episodes on ways to cover chipboard.

I have tried several methods and also find that the classic inks do not work well as the chipboard absorbs too much of the ink. Last weekend while helping my DD finish a project for some of her sorority sisters, it was very late and we were both tired - had a lightbulb moment. I used white acrylic paint and mixed a few drops of reinker to make the color we wanted. This worked great for us and will give us lots of color choices to match with each project as I have reinkers for all 48 colors plus all the in colors! Got to have them all you know!

I like to use acrylic paints, especially the metallic ones and then distress them for the look of old metal like the type of stuff Tim Holtz does.

Making Memories paint...you can add ink (from a refill) to it to get whatever color you want.
