Hot Card Help

Ok, so I tried to do a hot card the other day and I ended up throwing the stuff across the room because I was getting so frustrated!

First of all, I was using thin cardstock in place of the parchment paper because I didn't have any! My problem is that the plastic wrap would NOT melt to the tissue paper. I had the iron on 7 and even after holding it on top for like 30 seconds, I could still peel apart the tissue and plastic wrap with no resistance! Is my plastic wrap too strong??? -- it is for microwave use after all...

Please help me, I'd love to be successful at this technique!! TIA!

I think it might be your wrap. Microwave wrap is designed not to melt. This technique works best with really cheap wrap. Got any dry cleaner bags around? You can use them. Otherwise, head to the dollar store for a roll of cheapo wrap.

Default Freezer Paper Hot Card

Try ironing the tissue paper onto the shiney (waxy) side of freezer paper. Much less complicated and you get the same effect. Makes great envelopes, too.
