I was viewing a video and saw this on the sidebar. It's Carol Duvall's Holiday Crafts (1989). There are a couple of places where there is interference, but it is temporary. My Goodness, it was so good seeing (and hearing) her again!

Thank you UnderstandBlue!!!! I was concerned about using too much bandwidth by embedding the video.

Remember Ana Araujo? She was on several of Carol's shows. She and her daughter had their own internet show "When Creativity Knocks". Here's a show when they had Carol on demonstrating one of her crafts from her book.

She still has it (the wit!).

When I first came to the U.S.A almost 13 years back from India as a young bride, Carol Duvall show was the one I watched all the time. It would come twice a day and I hated to miss it even once. I had my hubby print out the projects that she would make and when she cancelled in 2004/ 2005, I was feeling very down. I also wrote to HGTV not to cancel such a lovely show. Thanks for sharing these videos.

I forgot to thank you for posting Dee's video. She was a hoot! Whenever she, Priscilla Hauser, Sandi Genovese or Mary O'Neil were on we were guaranteed some laughs.
If you check out the comment sections on the YouTube videos, not one person has anything bad to say about Carol. In all the years, on all the shows and interviews not one person had anything negative about her. That's impossible... and that's why we love her.
What great blasts from the past! I downloaded so many of Carol's tutorials - and still use some of them (one of my favorites was her glitter ornaments - it's the best one I've ever found - because the glitter/paints /images have yet to fall off/wear out. Sandi Dee and Mary - I watched them all. Wow - stamping and more has really come a long way. And we're all part of it - YAY!!!
I had forgotten all about her great shows. I loved the Christmas ornament shows she always did. We don't get any craft shows at all here where I love. I used to enjoy the quilting shows, the painting shows, knitting shows, all of them. Now, it's a vast craft wasteland.
I miss all those ladies! I hadn't crafted in years & once I started watching their shows, got hooked all over again. Then they all faded away. What would we do without you tube?
I absolutely loved watching Carol Duval on HGTV and saw her at the Scrapbook Mega Meet in Novi, MI a few years ago. I still remember how she would comment on the "neatness" of the project that viewers sent to her. Thanks for the memories.
Jeez, no one answered you? I do remember her, but the three or four times I saw the show just didn't resonate with me. I liked some of the projects, but wasn't willing to pay for kits to make them (that would have gotten pricey really fast!). Nor did I like the idea of having to buy her products. Back then I had never crafted beyond what was taught in school, so I literally assumed you had to use her products on her crafts (are all inks the same?). Plus I learned a long time ago not to purchase something that could only be obtained from one place. When the item would become discontinued, tough darts!
I did do a web search on her name, and didn't see any of her shows. I did find a couple of intros to her show telling what they were going to do that day, but that was all... Sorry.
Those were the days when a many media would ask for a Large Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to obtain stuff (patterns, recipes, etc.). So to have to purchase each kit was a bit of a shock.
That is why I loved Carol's show; she didn't push her own products and even stated many times several alternatives to use. I especially appreciated her telling us that she didn't like something and why. It was a brilliantly formatted show.
Oh, I loved Carol Duvall! I also liked Aileene's Crafts, but Carol's show is what really got me into crafts. I actually really disliked Dee Gruenig. She really annoyed me, but her projects were nice. Off to watch the 1000th episode. Thanks for the memories!
Crafters: If you began crafting as a result of watching Carol's shows, which project did you make first? Mine was the embroidered cake slice. It blew my mind that I could punch holes at a regular interval, use embroidery floss (and 1/8th inch wide ribbon for the candles) and make a cute card. I don't remember the title of the episode nor do I have it printed out. My favorite was the Inventive Holiday Card (CDS-965) with Sandi Genovese and was featured on her intros. It moved and made noise!

My first craft I did from her show is the clock in a gift bag. But my all time favorite is the explosion box or the never ending card.
I loved Carol just because she seemed like such a down-to-earth sort of person. She wasn't chic or perfect She just had good ideas and was funny! Me, too. I want to watch show#1000.

I think I made a pop-up card which was an inspiration from Sandi Genovese.
I heard (on line) the real reason Carol left is not her health but that HGTV felt she was too old and they wanted a younger personality. It seemed right as the next crafts spokes person they aired was still wet behind the ears.
I think it was probably both; Carol did mention in an interview that she needed both hips replaced I think both knees, too. You notice that many news anchors and actresses are let go (or given lesser and lesser roles and gradually not hired) when they reach a certain age. It's beyond a shame - it's not right... it's a waste of talent... and we are the ones to suffer their losses.
For at least 2 or 3 years I taped Carol's holiday episodes. I might still have those tapes. I made so many of the ornaments and gave them as gifts every year. I think my favorites were the embossed velvet projects.
Through a fluke of events, I got to be on one of her last Holiday Workshops in 2003. (I think they ended in 2004). She is just how you see her on TV. Gracious and kind.
It was a wonderful experience. My best friend drove up from San Diego to be there with me.
As I look back now, my project looks pretty cheesy. Things have changed in the last 11 years.
We did a couple dry run throughs and every time they reset my stuff, they placed it all closer. I ended up burning my hand when we did it live because the heat tool rolled under my hand. Took all my energy not to shout out.
It was the first of about 8 TV appearances I've been blessed to do.
