I hope someone can help me with a stamp. I am embossing the large flower from Fabulous Flowers set, and am having trouble getting the ink to stamp smoothly. There are irregular patterns, and even "empty" spots. I have full coverage of ink. I don't know why this is happening. I have used craft ink with clear EP, Versa Mark with red EP, nothing is working! I have even used my friend's flower stamp (same set) and get similar results. Any help, anyone?! Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!!

I have the same problem with this stamp....haven't used it much because I don't like the way it stamps, so unevenly. And like you, I've tried everything and still leaves empty spots. I wish I had never bought it!!! I look forward to reading any ideas on making this stamp put out a clean image.
Try going over it with a pencil eraser to rough up the rubber a bit. It holds the ink better that way. Also, when you put the stamp to paper, give it a good firm press all over and let it sit on the paper for a few seconds. That gives the ink a chance to soak into the paper.
I have 40 of these invitations to make. I'm actually starting to like the variations that are happening! No two are alike! Other suggestions I've heard are to lightly sandpaper the stamp. Also making sure that the stamp pad is 'juicy', applying the ink with a brayer, and being sure to apply the ink to the stamp and not pushing the stamp into the inkpad. I'll try all these suggestions and report back! Thanks ladies!!
I have my 40 images stamped and embossed in real red for my invitations. I private messaged a few ladies who's cards I saw on Splitcoast for their suggestions. Making sure that your stamp pad is juicy. Applying the ink to the rubber stamp and not pushing the stamp into the ink. Using a pencil eraser to go over the rubber on the stamp, sanding the rubber surface with a light sand paper, leaving the inked stamp on the paper's surface just a little to let the ink absorb. I tried all these and still got some irregularities. I found that as I continued to stamp and emboss that each flower had a character all it's own, and it didn't need to be a super clean image. I still have some more stamping to do to complete my invitation, but I will try to upload it when I'm done! Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
This is completely off topic. I was looking at the cards in your gallery. Will you tell me who made the eye chart stamp in the OTC & Red All Over Challenge? Thanks KB
My card OTC & Red All Over uses Off the Chart by Stampin UP. It is a retired set and must have been offered during one of the special quarterly offers. I looked through all my past catty's back to 2005/2006 and didn't see it. Look through the buy sell trade forum and if you still have trouble finding it, PM me back and I'll ask my demonstrator/friend! Good Luck!
Just a quick note...I have several solid stamps and I use fun foam under my cardstock. This helps push the image onto your paper. If you don't have fun foam (available at Michael's or walmart in cheap sheets) use a mouse pad, magazine or something with just a slight bit of cushin. This really helps with large images as well.

I agree a "padding" of some sort helps. I always use a small stack of computer paper ( the goober pages that seem to happen when you print backs of sheets too). I use them to work on all the time, great for sponging and stamping off edges. When the top sheet gets too messy I just send that one to the recycling and have a fresh sheet underneath.
Thanks ladies, more great tips!! I'm about 1/2 way done with my invitations! Out of town this weekend, but hope to finish them up early next week and get one posted! Thanks for all your ideas!!
My invitations are complete. I uploaded my card entitled vow renewal invites Wed. evening. Or you can see it in my gallery. I really don't think the large flower is supposed to turn out completely inked. I learned to like the irregularities. It has character. I haven't given the invitations to our friends yet, I hope they will like them! Thanks again for all your helpful comments!
