Question Glossy or plain cardstock?

Hi....

I'm pretty new to stamping and I absolutely LOVE this site! I have learned so many neat techniques and have seen TONS of gorgeous cards by SCS members! I have a couple of questions.

1) When doing the wax paper technique, does the paper have to be glossy cardstock, or can you use regular cardstock? Also, what happens if you don't have a brayer? Can you sponge your ink over the card, or drag the ink pad? Are there any other options. or is a brayer necessary?

2) I have the same paper question for the crayon resist too... glossy or non glossy?

Thanks so much!
Debi

Glossy works best for both of those techniques. You should still get the resist on regular cardstock, but the glossy really looks sharper. I've never tried doing them without a brayer, though - for a whole quarter piece of cardstock, but yes, you can sponge your ink on. Its just more time consuming.

Default in love with glossy paper

I have recently done a few cards (at SU parties) using glossy paper including the crayon resist and loved the effect so much that I had to order some glossy paper. Haven't tried the technique on regular card stock but I will definetly try it to see the difference.

Haven't used glossy yet for wax paper resist so I don't have anything to which to compare but I have used regular cardstock and it comes out fine. I still have to get used to the brayer. next time I'll work with 1/4 page instead of 1/2. I'd be interested in trying it will DTP.
