The E6000 glue (Hobby Lobby $3.47) works, too. I've even cut the top of the can off with that opener and glued that back on and still been able to use the pull top. Those soup cans have bottoms that you can't cut off and I wanted to fill a big can with kisses. Fun, fun, fun! My favorite project right now! Terri
I got my safety can opener at walmart for around $6 or $7. I also use a glue by Plaid called "Dimensional Magic". It's like crystal effects. It works GREAT for sealing up the bottom. Just use a VERY thin line around the bottom. I then put it in my husbands big vise (sp?) out in the garage and crank in tight and let it dry. Works like a charm!! These are so fun to give to people, they think you're so cleaver!!
What kind of can opener do you need and where can I get one!!!
Get the kind that uncrimps the lid, not the kind that punches through it. If you cut the lid, you'll never be able to get it back on! :p I got my safety can opener at the grocery store (Publix, I think) for about $6, but a lot of people have the one by Pampered Chef.

Where are you finding fruit cups in METAL CANS??? I went to 4 different stores and all the fruitcups are in PLASTIC CUPS with foil tops! Arrrrggggh!
I did see Vienna Sausages were in the right kind of cans, but no one in my house will eat those!
I've used soup cans, chili cans, pasta cans, anything with a pull top. This way you have a variety of sizes for different projects. Plus my kids were getting sick of the canned fruit...lol.
I am trying to make these right now & boy am I struggling. First of all I had a heck of a time finding the right can opener & than I got the one by Oxo, well I struggle with that, it takes me 3-5 times before I can get the lid off! & than I'm just trying to glue the bottom back on with Crystal Effects & now Metal Glue by Making Memories...the lid seems to pop off & won't adhere...I guess I'm asking is everyone gluing & than putting it in a "vise" or putting something heavy on it & leaving it overnight & which part are you putting the glue on, the inside of the can around the rim or on the actual lid? Help, I'm in need of desperate help, I figured these would be real easy! Also, if you got your can opener from Wal-mart which brand is it? Is it Starfrit?
hummm....i got mine it was 19.99 :(....i looked at a few stores too, BUT if i had went to walmart to save $10, i would have most likly spent $110.
The one at my WalMart is $8 something and they have been out of them for 2 weeks now. I had the one Tupperware came out with YEARS ago when these first came out, but it leaves a SHARP edge. I'll probably use a coupon and get one at linens n things or bed bath and beyond. Now that I found the fruit cups in CANS at Costco today....
I **SO** understand the $110 walmart shopping trip......
I bought a case of fruit at Sam's Club on Saturday, there are 24 cans in there.. should be enough now to get my can opener forgot about that when was shopping.
