Smile folding cards

I am a newbie and I am ready to move away from prefolded cards to making some new sizes on my own. Can anyone share the best way to make a perfect fold on CS? What tools so I need? Thanks, Barbarar20

A bone folder is a must. And I would also suggest that you score your CS first. You can do this with a scoring blade on most paper trimmers, or there is a tool made just for scoring, called ScorePal. The heavier your card stock the more you'll need to score first.

I score with my paper trimmer, fold with my hands and the crease it with the bonefolder.

Good luck!

Ditto on the bone folder. Be careful not to score too deeply if you use your paper trimmer. I have cut through my paper more than a couple of times...yikes...can you tell I'm heavy handed and the mom of three boys? LOL...well, *someone* has to keep up with them!

Default Bone, Score or Manual?

I think that each of these have their merits:

BONE FOLDER
: No matter how you fold, this will break the fibers more even when pressing on a manually folded card.

SCORING: A personal cutter with a scoring blade is the minimum you must have. Making boxes & some cards require pre-scoring. A Scor-Pal is nice, but try the scoring blade first. The use a bone folder too & you're pressed real good!

MANUAL: You always know where your hands are! I honestly prefer to fold manually because cardstock isn't always a true size. I match 2 corners & pinch the fold. Then I match the other 2 corners & pinch the fold. Then I press between them & use a bone folder when I remember. The only time that you get a warbled fold is when you go against the grain of the paper & you don't find out about that until you've done it. Press it out with a bone folder will help.

I use a bone folder in my latest video on an easy way to make a Double Fold Pocket Card. Check it out here.

Yep, definitely a bone folder. I don't score my card stock, though, for a regular card--only if it's a fancy fold. I prefer to line up the corners and then press the fold.
