Default Feedback please - card template

I have NO IDEA if this is the right place to post this or not, I'm so sorry if it's the wrong place.

I'm working on a card template and wanted some feedback. I wanted to make a shaped card that is a shield, and after working on a digital file for a few hours today I came up with two different versions.

Please don't mind the rough edges and shaky emboss lines, these are roughs to see if they end up the right size. I'm looking for suggestions on improving them before I finalize the template file.

I hope these attach properly, (I can come back and post a direct link if the upload/attachment doesn't work)

They are great! Sounds like you are planning a medieval-themed card.

Thank you ladies! I guess I just have to figure out what I'm going to embellish them with now. No pressure!!

PH, I'm actually doing "World of Warcraft" themed cards and had a request for a "Tank" card (these people called "tanks" use shields in the game). But I fully expect them to be popular with medieval society folk too!

Do you guys think it's weird that the one shield is on it's side when standing up? I mean, that's how a shield would look leaning against the wall, but how would you embellish the card? would you do it "straight" (so it looks right when held vertical) or would you do it slanted so that it looks "Right" when it's resting as it is in the picture?

I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be using a lot of metalic heat emboss lol

Hi there!

Since I'm one of them who play the game "world of warcraft" I must say that this looks soooo great!!! I would really really like copy of your templates if you are going to let them free...

And to answer your latest question, I would say, embellish them both as if you look right at them, when they are held. Becouse thats how they are uses in the game.

A little embellishment tip: There are to sides to the game, One for Alliance they have blue as there color and one for Horde and there color is red.

lol thanks Bella... I have three 80's, all horde. These are my kids, when they were babies: Creative Writing: Horde Babies

I keep trying to play Alliance but I've been Horde for FIVE YEARS now

May I ask what server you play on? or would that be weird?

PS if you check out my blog and click the label "Theme: World of Warcraft" you can see my other WoW themed cards!

Thank you Jenny!

Bella, I forgot to mention that yes, once I work out the kinks I'll be making these available for download... along with the special surprise one I'm working on (hint, it'll be GREAT for Brewfest cards).

Aha!! Then my comment on the colors were pretty of then, hahahaha...

Since Im living in Sweden am playing on European realms though, Aszune is mine. Ive been playing an Alliance-mage for 3 years. I got some alts as well but the Mage is my darling! Im in a all sweeds guild and all my family is there to.

Altough I got a horde to!! I just started to lvl it and I find it really funny to do some quest I havent done before. It was really funny. I made it on a server where i dont know anyone so I hade to start all over. No money, no friends to help me, nothing!

Well, good luck in the game!!

I'll play Alliance come Cata, I'm sure... Worgen are looking so cool! (So are goblins though!)

My sister and mother both play too (mother is a great grandma and has the achievement "Master of Wintergrasp" on her MAIN 80... that's right, she's got more than one).

Even though we play on different realms maybe we could chat on vent sometime if we're both playing at the same time (obviously a huge time difference) sometimes I get a chance to play during my morning (like now, if my account was active).

Thanks for the comment on my blog too

Oh my, your mom is really in to the game! When we first started play all my kids friends were so impressed! Is your dad playing? wow! Is your MUM playing to!!! COOOOL!! And shes got 3 80's!!! Thats awsome!! Hahahaha...

Now the kids friends even ask us for adwise on how to gem, or what specc to have m.m.

Since we all in the family are in the same guild I figure that its a way to spend time together. My boys are 14 and 17 and dont have time to hang out with mom so much anymore. But when we play we all do it togehter.

I sure like to talk on vent sometime, but right now i dont play that much. Im in a scrapspeeding thing right now

I let my account expire for the summer since I'll be spending so much time outside with my 2 and 3 year olds lol.

My son (the 3.5 year old) even plays! He has his own level 1 human on another server. He knows, by heart, the way from Northshire Valley all the way to the Stormwind Docks, how funny is that? Any female character he sees he calls by hair color (blue haird night elf is "blue lady") and any male character is "A" daddy (not HIS daddy).

I just posted another World of Warcraft card in my blog today. I'll send you an IM with my vent info (even though I won't be using it for a couple weeks). Talk to you soon!

I've got an update!
This is the progress I'm making on the shield card. Who knew that a tag punch could make an ax!? I scored the edge and then embossed it in silver (making sure it wouldn't be too smooth a finish, pit and pock marks for the "rustic" ax!)

That's actually chocolate brown ribbon with a satin finish just to hide the joins. Next time I cut out the template I'm going to NOT score the line between the DP and the "banner" so that if I cut just a bit off it won't show like it does here.

I'd still have to create a haft and a pommel for the weapons but I'm waiting to see if the lady who hired me wants to use the weapons.

The elk is from SU's Nature Silhouettes.

Any suggestions or feedback?

These look so cool, am looking forward to the download. They will be brilliant for general male cards too, not just those into gaming.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!!

I just posted an update on my blog with the finished product and the changes I've made. I'm uploading a picture of the final card.

I'm still planning on making others with this style and with the original two templates, but this particular one was a commission piece.

Hi David! Thank you!

Do you mean the completed card? or the completed (and downloadable) template?

How fantastic! I am anxiously awaiting your templates to be added to the download center. Being ex-WoW and, um, ahem, current EQ2 .... I know I'll be able to surprise a few folks. (I play with hubby, step-son, several local friends and keep making more on-line friends.)

Those cards look awesome!

Congratulations on a job well done.
