Default Embossing - faded paper issues

Hi, I'm hoping somebody can help me. I was making a card for a friend at work who was getting married and embossing white cakes on lavendar lace cardstock. As I was heating the embossing powder, I noticed the cardstock was changing color to almost pink! What am I doing wrong?!!

Did it stay that color? I've noticed a bit of a color change sometimes when I emboss, but the color pretty much goes back to normal once the paper cools.

Default fading

I think it may have gone back, but not completely. I am not sure if I'm holding the embossing tool too close to the paper, overheating it or what. I hadn't noticed this before because I normally emboss over black ink on white paper.
