Default Crimper problems

I'm probably just being an idiot but every time I use my crimper, it comes out crooked. I've tried feeding my paper in on the edge, crimping slow, crimping fast, whatever but it just doesn't work for me. I go ahead and use the paper since no one really knows that it wasn't supposed to look like that but it bugs me to death because I know. Please help me!!!

Hold your crimper slanting down then lay your paper in the groove and crimp. The angle seems to help hold the paper straight.

Also - squeeze the crimper close prior to putting the paper in there. That works for me.

i also squeeze the crimper tightly before i start, also are you lining the edge of the paper up with the side of the crimper? you can recrimp the same piece of paper if it goes crooked the first time. i just wouldn't try it too many times. hope you get it.

I squeeze the crimper tight to line up the paper, but as soon as I start cranking, I loosen my grip a bit. I've found that the tighter I hold it closed, the more crooked my paper seems to end up - go figure!

Oh-Thanks for asking this-I thought I was the only one that had problems with this. I kept thinking-now this is a simple task-how come I can't handle it?? Thanks girls for all the hints-I can't wait to get home from work and try them out.

Ladies, please watch your tails. It hurts so badly when it gets caught in one of those!

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. I still can't get my paper to come out straight!

I wonder if the Fiskars crimper just isn't made very true? I think I'm going to email Fiskars and see if they have any suggestions.

Anyway, because I am so finicky, I have dealt with this by crimping smaller pieces of paper, and/or sliding my paper into the crimper and just crimping a 1 or 2 inch section to add texture.

Good luck!

I don't have problems with my crimper. I barely put my paper in the crimper and close it down tight...then crimp. Put it in just far enough for the crimper to grab it.

I have always had issues with the crimper. I tried the change in grip someone had mentioned to me earler and that helped somewhat but not 100%. I still hold the paper in my teeth while I crank if I am alone, or get my dh to crank while I hold the paper straight if she is home.

HTH,

Heather
