are there any specific techniques to covering tin? Does the tin need to be prepped with anything and what is the best way to stick paper to the tin?
Thank you Sylva
I have never prepped a tin beyond giving it a quick wipe to make sure it's clean.
I like to use modpodge or similar to stick paper onto the tin then, once dry, use modpodge again over the top to make the paper durable.
I'm only using modpodge as a generic name .. the one I use is called "Helmar Decoupage and craft paste" and is about a third of the price for what I am 99% sure is the same product!
I really like Scor-tape. It's super strong but you can tear it with your fingers! I have never prepped a tin. I'm anxious to hear if others have. Great topic!

So for the ones that tape things down - can you seal the project afterwards with anything? I would have thought it would just bubble and wrinkle if you put something on over the top? or don't you worry about it?
I've never used anything to seal the paper. I like the look of it without a sealer. I don't generally worry about it.
As a side note - when I've altered notebooks, etc, I use YES! Paste instead of the red line because I wrap the paper and like to make sure it's really STUCK there without any gaps in a seal.
Thank you all for the tips, I am pretty new to all this and am not sure what I'm doing!!!!!
Regarding the paste is there a special brand you would use???
I haven't had any browning with my items -although they're not "old" or "aged" by any means so I don't have anything to go by.
YES! Paste does not leave air bubbles. It's a very thick paste (not liquid like Mod Podge) that can be watered down if you wanted it thinner. I just apply mine with an old gift card or something similar. It comes in a pretty large tub for about $11 at Mike's (I use a coupon to get half off because I'm pretty cheap.) and I've got more than half still left in my first tub after altering about 10 medium sized notebooks and some other items.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions about YES! Paste! :-)
I have never really used mod-podge to alter anything. Usually when I alter something the sticky tape is enought for what I need. Perhaps I just need to alter more things.
I use red liner tape, any paper, and I never seal it. I have trouble getting a clear finish with mod-podge. I think I put it on too heavy. I've also used Crafters Pick The Ultimate glue. It's a white glue that is great for paper crafting. I don't use it on cards, but on boxes, journal, etc. it's great.
