Smile covering legal pads

I found some great examples with templates in the swap gallery. If you go also to Anything but a card there are sub categories for notepads. I just made my first one last week-end and bought some little snap closed spiral notebooks at Target which had a color band at the spiral so i didn't have to worry about the spirals and just coordinated the paper to the border. The main body of the Target cover is paper so super easy to cover. My daughter said that the two I made looked very professional and she is my worst critic

I'm a visual person, do you have a pictures you could post? I'm not picturing it in my head. Could be there is too much other "junk" clogging my brain up, but I'd still like to check these out, they sound super cute.

Default I can help a little

I haven't done the legal pads.
I have covered some note books that have the metal bindings that consist of wire twisted back and forth, not the ones that go around and through the paper.
If you look at the notebook and it has the kind of binding that goes back and forth, you can take it apart.
Open the notebook and put the covers together, holding the covers up and letting the paper dangle, look at where the binding comes together.
See how there is an opening between the back and front covers?
You can slip the covers out through that opening and cover them.
I learned the hard way to punch the holes out while the glue is wet.
After the glue is dry and you have your covers all done, you can slip the covers back on the wires.
You may need to press the wires back together a little, because taking them out may stretch it a little.
Good luck, Ms April

I have covered lots of notebooks. The spiral ones I take apart. Just unwind the spiral keeping it intact and then you can cover the front and back and insides and then punch the holes back in and respiral. Super easy. Hope that helps. I have also done the ones previously described and they are work but easy and results are great.

When I've covered spiral notebooks, I run a black sharpie along the edge closest to the spiral. Then I trim the cardstock to fit and adhere it close to the edge of the spiral. That way, none of the original cardboard shows.

Default hole punch

I did mini notebooks for a cub scout hike. I made a bunch of mini composition books and lots of spiral bound notebooks. I just took a page out of one of the notebooks and used it to punch holes in my cardstock. Then I just cut little slits near each hole and slid this on the cover. They came out really cute. It was really quick and easy to do. Hope this helps .

Smile finally posted the mini note book pix

I finally had time to take pix of the notebooks I made last week-end. They are the Target paper covered spiral with snap closure. They were two in a pkg and I chose them because of the color band at the spiral, I have added them to my gallery if anyone wants to see how they turned out.
