Default Colouring in digi stamps

I recently tried colouring digi stamps that I had printed off. Of course, the ink was not stable and results were not great. Sooooo.... I just had an idea that, if I went over the lines with my Quickie Glue pen, embossed with clear emossing powder and heat set, it might work. It did!

Has anyone any other ideas for this? Haven't tried just heat setting the ink, itself. If anyone has tried this or any other technique for colouring in digi stamps, please let me know.

I use BIC MarkIt and Sharpie pens but this would be important for Copics, as well.

I have that problem with my Epson printer and I read somewhere if you print in best photo mode the ink is more stable. I tried this with my printer and selected Premium Matte Presentation Paper setting and printed on PTI Stampers Select White Cardstock. I have not had any ink smearing issues since making this change. Other people also recommend just regular heat setting too. You can also try spraying your paper with a Matte Fixative spray after printing too.

I was having the same problems with my images ( i use colored pencils and goo gone) I'm going to try heat setting it next, and then the embossing if i can find clear powder. I was recently given a new photosmart printer i'm hoping this is the key. I was thinking it was the eco-ink i was using. Not sure anymore

thanks for the tip!

First, there is no problem if you are using a laser printer. I print all of mine out at work.

Second, if you are using an inkjet printer, try using your embossing gun on it before coloring. This will help set the ink so it will not smudge.

Some printers have 2 blacks. I have to force my Canon Pixma to use the Glossy Photo setting so it won't print with the plain paper text ink ( which is pigmented and smears with every colouring medium!) So the glossy photo setting it uses photo black (which is dye) and pencils/oms and copics work wonderfully now. A heat set I noticed helps when you want to watercolour. But it didn't help with the pigmented ink prints.. still smeared... blech.
