Default Clear Christmas Balls

Ok I am drooling here......I love the clear glas ball ornaments with the "snow" inside. But can someone please point me to the directions? Is the little images actually inside the ball? HInts please!

There are a variety of these. I have made them using an image stamped onto acetate ("window sheet" from SU or office transparency). You can color the image with Sharpie markers (and probably some other things too!), or I used Pearl Ex with Future. Then you roll up the acetate and slide it into the ornament.

Fun!

Here's how:

• Safety Note: These glass ornaments are fragile and will break. Be especially careful removing and reattaching the cap/hanger. The edges of the mouth are particularly apt to break and may also be sharp.

• Draw a 2 ” circle on the transparency in pencil. (or whatever size you need to make it fit inside your particular glass ball)

• Using Staz-on, stamp the desired image. Be careful to stamp straight down and pull straight up….Staz-on is very “slippery”! Let dry a few minutes. Color on the BACK with Sharpie Markers. [coloring on the front will smear the staz-on even when it is dry!]

• OPTIONAL: Apply a small puddle of Crystal Effects to back of the image, and smear it around with your finger to completely cover the back. Sprinkle with glitter. Shake off the excess and let dry completely.

• Carefully remove the cap of the ornament and set aside.

• Cut out the circle carefully along the pencil line. Punch a 1/16” hole at the top. Thread a 5” length of gold cord through the hole.

• With the glittered side of the circle facing up, tightly roll the circle up like a sausage. Be sure the glittered side of the circle is inside the “sausage”.

• Holding tightly, insert the sausage into the ornament, holding onto the cording. When the sausage gets inside the ornament, it will pop open! Thread the ends of the cord through the holes in the cap and tie. Reattach the cap.

• Tie on a big length of organdy ribbon for a pretty bow, and add a cording loop for hanging on the tree.

This sounds great! I may have to buy some and try it. Is there someplace that is best to buy acetate?

Default Debby posted Clear Christmas Ball Directions!

Thank you so much for the great intructions. I went back to HL and bought another box of the next size of balls. I am having trouble finding the fake snow I want.

I'm subscribing to this thread because I've been wanting to try the Christmas ornament thing and have found some great instructions on them. TYVM
