Brayered Batik Help!

I have tried the Brayered Batik on the resource page and my colors just won't run together like in the demo. I don't have a su spectrum pad, just the walmart special, it didn't work. Then I thought that it just wasn't a water based ink, so I tried using a couple of my su pads, but the colors just don't run together. What am I doing wrong! I am using water color paper & water based inks. Help!

Tam -
When I tried this technique, I also could not get my colors to "run," they just looked sponged. I haven't tried it again, but if/when I do, I think I'll keep it very wet as I sponge it...that may help. Hope someone has some good advice for you!
