I hear your pain Janice. When I first tried I had the same mess on the table, and shed a tear or two thinkin there is no way I can make this happen. I finally found the marks on a ruler and marked them with a ink line. Then I transfered the ink line to some grid paper and worked off that. It worked for me and I got the box. I still have an occasion where I don't get the lid right and it comes out all hokey shooey don't know why. But keep trying. It's worth the pain when it does come out right.

I feel your pain as well...lol...I cannot seem to be able to get the to go together the right way! I just ordered 10 from a fellow SCS member so I could use them as gifts, but, they are so pretty that I can't bring myself to taking it apart.
I would not mind mailing one to you as a gift :-)
Just PM me with your address.

I thought that I was the only one having trouble with these. I've decided that my sanity (the little that is left) is worth the cost of the metal containers to put the decorated nuggets in. Plus there's the fact that my crafting time is limited with the kids needing my attention. Definitely starting to sound like one of the MasterCard commercials.
I have made a couple of hundred of these(shower favors and craft fairs and such...) I can tell you that sometimes, no matter what you do, they come out all messed up!!! I too have marked on my ruler and made a grid and that does help, but next i am getting myself a scorepal. I think that will just make it so much easier. If you want me to send you one, just pm me and i will send it right out. I ususally do the 3 nugget ones, so i am sure i have a few of those laying around.
I used a straight edge and bone folder on the lined Grid Paper. The 16th's marks are halfway between the 8ths marks on the SU grid paper. One of my lids is a little hookey because the paper or the straight edge slipped when I was scoring, so it's a little crooked. But still completely adorable!
I just use my Fiskars paper cutter for scoring. I use my bone folder as my scoring tool. If you're using my patterns for the nugget boxes, the measurements are done the way they are to make it easy to use your paper cutter for scoring. I have you score from one side and then turn the paper to score the other side. That's because it's pretty much impossible to make a score at less than one inch on the Fiskars.
I just did two tins this morning and they are so darn cute! I used a couple of Altiod tins that I had saved. I measured using a wonderful cheap ruler that I found at WM.. It cost about a buck and I use it allll the time. It's clear, with grid lines on it, only six inches long and so handy! After measuring the tin, I used my Fiskars guillotine cutter, then used a corner rounder. I used slightly smaller measurements to make a lid liner that I decorated and signed. These tins will only hold five nuggets, but it was just to show my daughter what it would look like. She's thinking of using this idea for a wedding favor. I made them with a Halloween theme. Does Micheal's or HL sell the tins? I just can't eat that many Altiods! ;)
cdjkssss's templates are so great! There are lots of sizes and I've not had any trouble with her's.

HOLY COW CDJKSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a woman after my own heart! I'm as geeky as you are and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your templates! Now, that's what a template should look like - dimensions and all!!! I'm printing every last one of them out and I'll start using them this evening! You are simply BRILLIANT!

Sorry for the mini hijack - my co-worker saves his tins for me - they are the same size as Altoids, but instead of Altoids, they had (he ate them all) 8 Hersheys truffles!!! I don't know where he buys them. The covers say "Hershey's" too, and not "Altoids".
I made my own sample template for the size I wanted out of regular printer paper, first, before I used my cardstock. I made a few mistakes and had a devi lof a time figuring out that the top -slides- over the bottom.
Chris's instuctions are wonderful! I have made all sizes and shapes.
Stick with it. It can be frustrating at first; but once you have it, you are not goiing to be able to stop making them!
Another suggestion: Ask your friend who makes them to show you how to do it. Good Luck and upload some after you get the hang of it!
Im terrible at measuring too - but I found that the templates I printed from here are true to size. So I actually used the pattern itself on my trimmer and marked where it ended. Does that make sense?
It was so much easier than finding 3/8 of an inch!!
Good luck - once you get the hang of it you'll be crankin' em out no problem:cool:
I've made 5 of the 2 X 5 ones for Teacher Thank yous, but my measuring is some off. I would use my Fiskars Trimmer to Score them, but can't find my scoring blade!! What a pain.... It seems that my measuring is close enough that they look ok... so I'm leaving them! I have 5 more to make!!

I don't use the scoring blade for my Fiskars - I just use the tip of my bone folder.
Sorry if this doesn't exactly stick to the original spirit of this thread, but... What's a nugget? TIA!
Nuggets are little short fat chocolates made by Hershey. They're everywhere in the U.S. Some of the Canadian stampers have reported that they're hard to find there.
P.S. I have a surprise for those who have trouble finding Nuggets. Stay tuned tomorrow!

Chris,
I can't wait to see what you surprise is. Your nugget templates are the best! Thanks for sharing them with us. Have you all tried the Nuggets with the truffle filling? OMG!:-D
I suck at measurements so I went online and typed in how to read a ruler. I was able to print out a picture of rulers and the measurements from inches to the smallest ones. I actually have several copies on hand!!!
I think there might be a wrong measurement on the 3 nugget template. I can't get it to work for me at all. I've double checked it so many times it's not even funny. I got fustrated and quit too.
I am the same way with measurements, but I have a ruler that hubby had, only 6 inces long, but it has all the increments on it, so there is no figuring out....I'm sure somewhere out there you must be able to purchase a ruler with all increments marked on it....the one I have is an old one that he had for year, but now is mine.....he is really good with measurements.
thanks so very much to everyone who pm'd me, listed their woes(glad to see i am not alone!) and helped with all the offers! someday i shall succeed at this and you will hear horns and see the streamers where you live LOL!

I laughted myself silly reading message. I feel like you and I haven't even started! Just finding out how was a major undertaking. Every time I try to make a box now and goof it up I will think of you and get a smile on my face.
I made my first last weekend. The 16 nugget box went together wonderfully, but I had a horrible time with the 3 x 4 box. I just couldn't get it measured right!
