Default I could be wrong...

I could be wrong...it looks like

-12x12 card stock fold in half vertical,
-open, fold in half horizontal,
-open, cut a 6" vertical slit (bottom to center)
-decorate the upper (left and right squares) & lower right square
-lower left square tucks under right square and card should sit up
(make four)

more than likely upper right square of card one is attached to upper left of card two, uR2 is attached to uL3, uR3 is attached to uL4

to fully open...uR4 is clipped to uL1

WOW! Delta Karen, your first post was super- great instructions.

Mandy62 thanks for posting the link to this amazing card.

I just made one (well, actually I just cut scrap 6 x 6 paper and glued to see if it worked functionally-no stamping or layers) Can't wait to do this for real!

Default You would...

You would fold page one up (horizontal) and then do the vertical fold for each page. You can even decorate all the pages. If my counting is correct, there are 24 pages you could decorate with photos, etc. You could easily turn it into a book with chipboard (cover & back) and tie it closed with a ribbon. I think I'm going to play with this for a while...could end up being a really cute book using all those wallet sized school photos!

I'm almost there...just a quick question: How many pieces of 12x12 CS does this take? I'm guessing 2, but I'm having trouble seeing how it goes together. I'll have to play with it and figure it out.

Think I must be ultra thick on this one, it really is driving me to distraction- I still can't make it work - can get something similar by using 2 and half sheets of 12 x2 by folding both full sheets horizontally and then vertically in half, standing them together L shaped, then folding 6 x 12 sheet in half and making slits to join the quarter folded sheets in the middle. Not making sense am I?????? It does close like a book but upper right side cross page is double. Doesn't look double on photo does it??

Forget that last comment - deltakaren thank you - the penny has just dropped - it goes together like a star book but with the bottom squares dropping down when you pull the front cover to meet the back. First time I tried I glued the tucked under sections down so that it wouldn't fold back up.LOL!

I think this is what is known as a "room card". I have seen them made using one sheet of 12 x 12 and decorated to look like a room with furniture and pictures on the "wall". This looks like four "rooms" put together. It helps to trim a sliver of paper off when you make the 6" cut along one fold to the center. This helps the "floor" to lay down. The outside front was stamped with a door stamp to make it look like a house.

One more thing....you can make these with any sized square piece of cardstock. It doesn't have to be 12 x 12. It will just be smaller! An 8 x 8 piece of cardstock will produce a 4" square room card, etc.

Here is the link for the room card I saw. You would just make four of them and put them together!

This is such a great site for tutorials! As soon as I read "room card" I was heading over to The Stamping Studio because I remembered it there! I too need pictures and am amazed when folks can figure out folds/dimensions with out them!!

Default Noticing a fold that makes me think...

When I went and looked at the card on the website, I noted that the floor seemed to be creased on a diagonal -- did anyone else see this? It seems to me like they fold up and in... rather than stacking the two bottom panels as the room card would suggest. Also, I think that with four room cards together, that would be a lot of bulk, so I am thinking that there might be an alternate way to do this...

I would like to see what the magazine offers in the way of directions, too.

Posting to see if an answer comes. I tried this last night and got frustrated because I couldn't get it to fold up with the four put together.

I have done one - couple of photo's are in my gallery. It doesn't need to be folded on the diagonal as the bottom left flap sits underneath the bottom right when you open it. They then fold up flat against the inside and it closes up like an ordinary card. I folded all flaps up inside the 4 cards before I fixed them together. Just start with the first card (flaps folded inside) then stick the front of the second to the back of the first and the front of the third to the back of the second etc. Hope this is making sense.
LOL.

All right ladies- This is the reply that CTMH sent me today:

"Thank you for writing to us! We are trying to get the directions
for this card, and once we receive them I will send them on to you. It
may take just a little while before we get them. If you have any other
questions please let me know. Have a great day!

I got a hold of the person who made this card and asked her if she would give me directions. This is what she wrote back. Hope this helps all of you.

** It is very simple...four 12x12 cardstock, scored in half both directions leaving you four 6x6 sections. On one of the 6x6 sections you will score it on the diagonal from the center to the outside corner, that is the bottom that folds in. On another side you will cut from the outside middle to the center of the card and fold two sections together and adhere. You should now have a three sided box. Do the same to the other three 12x12 cs and then attach them together. I put a ribbon across to hold it together and then cut two 5 1/2 sq cs to put on the front and back cover to hide the ribbon..... **

Have fun,
Yvette

Thanks Yvette, but I still don't understand. I have all four of my cardstocks scored, and that's about as far as I can get. HELP! Sometimes it stinks being a visual learner!

This sounds very similar to a triangle card.... you ladies would find this link interesting:

Triangle Card

Bottom line.... it takes 4 pieces of CS. I read that someone asked about using a mountain fold (creased up) so that it would close. That isn't a bad idea...that way the person receiving the card doesn't have to figure out the flaps. Another idea is that you could write "1) Pull down here" and then "2) Pull Down here and fasten to first flap" (you would have attached velcro or something), then they would get the idea and keep going.

Time consuming, but if you get into, it can be really worth it for a special occasion one of kind card. I am planning on making either this square one or triangle one for my parents suprise birthday party.
