Default alcohol inks???

Hi,
I am perusing through my back issues of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. They mention using alcohol inks a lot. What are these?

Thanks,
Denise

On other threads I had read where they have added alcohol to SU re-inkers to achieve the same effect. You might want to do a thread search using "alcohol ink" and see what you come up with.

I have recently begun using alcohol inks, and I have to admit that while I was intimidated by it at first, after using it, I LOVE IT!!! It works best on glossy paper or acetate (I just used transparency film). I used it on this card.. Happy For You ... both in the background (which was just on transparency film) and on the acetate flower (ghost shapes.. although you could just cut out your own shapes with transparencies as well). It is SO easy and SO much fun.

You can also use the alcohol inks to color brads and eyelets. And it works on glass so you can do candle holders and Christmas tree balls. It works on plastic.. I saw photos of a "Polished Stone" computer and electrical outlet covers. Try it on anything non-porous.

I don't use the Adirondak (Tim Holz - Ranger brand) alcohol inks. I like the Pinata inks better. The colors are more vibrant. My friend Jody uses the Adirondaks so I have used them I just don't like the muted colors as well. I do like the tool that you can buy with them, it makes it easier to use than the method I used to apply them with. Here are two examples of the pinata inks. The first picture is a little blurry - sorry.

You can get the Adirondaks at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I found the pinata's at my LSS. Hope this helps!
