Default adhering paper to cardstock?

I am trying to find the best method for adhering paper to cardstock. Tried glue stick and paper dries and just comes loose. Also when I adhere the paper the card is hard to get it to stay closed after bending because of paper attached. Is there a better method?

I recently bought Yes! paste, got it in the clearance aisle at Michael's and I am thrilled with it. I use a palette knife to spread it, covering the front and then adhering the paper - there is wiggle time to get it just right.

I haven't tried to bend the section of card with the Yes! paste but I did use two sheets of paper to make a bend, to make a large top fold card, with the card front 8 1/2 in x 5 1/2 in with it.

If you get Yes! paste after the first time you use it, you need a bit of wax paper to layover the container and screw the lid on over it (with bits hanging out the sides) otherwise it will seal itself closed.

I often adhere paper to cardstock with a glue stick and have no problem. I use the glue stick generously. I like it because, like the YES paste, I have some time to move things around.

My atg gun works fine on it, I just make sure I go close around the edges. Or run paper thru the xyron. Glue sticks a big fail with me.

I usually just make my cards from white card stock, and then attach a "card front" to the front of the card only. No problems folding that way, plus you don't use so much paper. I am assuming you are talking about attaching patterned paper to the card stock?

I use an ATG gun to attach the fronts to my cards. Just a strip around the edges.

If you're talking about mounting the paper to the cardstock to make it heavier, as opposed to just attaching a layer, I use Mod Podge.

Are you trying to cover the front of a card, and bending the paper around to the back too? If so, try scoring the paper to match the fold in the cardstock, then after attaching, rub over fold with your bone folder. I use DSt for this. Or are you attaching an insert, and thats making the card open out? If its that, attach your insert with just a line of tape( I use the snail type), to the front inside of the card only. Your card will stay closed, but the insert will open when you open the card.

I either use gel medium or Ranger Matte medium. Love the Matte Medium. Doesn't come a part and gives it a bit of water protection

My favorite adhesives for layers are ATG, sookwang tape, and Tombow Mono multi. If you do use a glue stick, be sure to burnish the layers together (just a fancy way of saying rub something over the top layer with some pressure to get the layers to stick together better).

I usually use sookwang tape, but sometimes use a glue stick, glue runner, or foam dots.
