Valentines Day is on its way! Whether you love it or hate it some hearts are going to be flying in the galleries. I thought this Origami Heart Pocket would be a fun way to involve your kids and grandkids in a card making project. If they like folding you can do enough for all of their friends. Fill the pocket with treats. If no kids are involved, glue it to a card front and fill it with a cute stamped image or die cuts.
I don't get foldy very often, so the challenge is only to do the heart. (First half of the video.) If you want to try the little animals too--go for it! My granddaughter is crazy about cats, so I'm also trying the origami cat. These Japanese-style anime animals (Pusheen) are very much in style, even for some teens. Pikachu (the yellow one) from Pokemon is also popular with kids and teens.
Some Tips:- Start with any size square of PAPER (not card stock). If you use DSP make sure it isn't too thick to fold easily.
- Video sample uses a 20 x 20 centimeters square (about 8 x 8 inches)
- The bigger the square, the bigger the finished heart. The smaller the square, the smaller the finished heart.
- The attached pdf is an attempt to diagram the instructions in the video. But for origami I always find it easier to watch the video.
- When watching the video and you need to slow it down to step though a fold: Pause the video and use the left and right arrow keys. It will rewind or go forward 3 seconds.
- If stamping directly on the front of your heart, you may want to unfold it and stamp on a flat surface. (Before unfolding, note or mark where the stamping area is located.)

The Cherry Cobbler heart was a 6 x 6 inch square and sits on an A2 card front. The salmon colored heart started as a 5 x 5 inch square and will fit in an ATC pocket.
