Good Monday to you all! I came across a video a while ago, created by Natasha Foote of New Zealand, and a few weeks ago, I created a card with her ideas for using small stamps. I won't add her video because she does buy from some companies that copy stamps and dies. Being from New Zealand, I understand that it is difficult for her to find products but I know that companies like Ali Express and others are copying products and selling them at very discounted prices.
So here are the basic directions:
1) Gather up some small stamps, probably a good idea to consider a theme first. I used three SU sets that I had been ignoring for a while.
2) Cut some masking paper, like GinaK Masking Magic, into strips about 1/4".
3) Arrange them on a piece of cardstock (light in color) in random ways, criss-crossing them. Create spaces big enough for your small stamps but make the spaces different sizes. Use as many strips as you like. If you don't have masking paper, cut some thin copy paper into strips and use removable adhesive.
4) Blend some inks, using one color or several, over your masked card front. If you've chosen a cardstock color that is not white or vanilla, make sure the inks you want to use will look right on the color you chose.
5) Strategically stamp your little stamps in the colored areas, planning how much of the stamp you want to show. Stamp at different angles for more interest. You can repeat stamps if you like and also add a small sentiment in one of the areas. Or stamp a sentiment on a strip of cardstock and pop it up. A narrow sentiment would be best. I found that I needed to use some mint tape to mask some of the smaller areas so the larger stamps didn't go into other areas. Time consuming but necessary. I used DOx inks for my background which created a bit of problem with the masking tapes not sticking well but I made it work. Persevere!!!!!
6) Remove the masking papers (carefully) and embellish as you like.
Can't wait to see what you come up with. This should be a very CAS card, easy to mail. You could do this right on your cardbase and make it truly CAS. And you could do multiples very easily, all a little different if you place the masking paper in different ways. This technique looks a bit like retiform.
