I have Catherine to thank for introducing me to this concept, which appears to go both by Faux Shutter Card and Fractured Card.
Here's hers, which inspired me to feature it this week. ABC19O15 Olive You by cdimick at Splitcoaststampers
She has a link to a video in her upload, which I'm sure almost everybody can see, so I won't link it again.
I actually used something closer to this version by Rick Adkins.
although I did a slight crossover with Colleen's version that Catherine used, because I didn't have the extra matting and layering for the focal image since the size of mine didn't allow it.
Remember to use the keyword TLC971 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread. 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Oh Dear! I very unintentionally used similar papers to Cook22. My poinsettia paper comes from a soap wrapper that I've been hoarding for just the right project, and my plaid from a gift box of Christmas papers that I'd forgotten about. I really love this effect, and plan to try it again soon!
Accidentally got some smears and dots, need to slow down and let things dry! It was a great piece to try out this new technique (new to me) on!
Here's why you should never make cards at night in low light.....I just looked at my card and realized I used pretty peacock as the shutter instead of shaded spruce like my background! LOL
Just catching up on this challenge, I finally learned how to make this fun and easy card I've been seeing everywhere! Thanks for posting this challenge and motivating me to tackle this design!
