I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This month I am digging into my stash of STENCILS. If you are like me, you have a collection of stencils and always find more you "need" but then don't use. (I heard somewhere that collecting craft supplies and using craft supplies are two separate things - they must be talking to my family haha!
I found a short tutorial video from Gina K showing a partial stencil technique that is quick and fun and perfect for a CAS card. The great thing about this one is that you don't have to get fussy with it or mask anything. Just have fun!
Now, go dig through your stencils and grab your ink combos and do some partial stenciling. Honestly, I had so much fun and this was so quick, I thought it was perfect for making a set of cards but what do you guys think?
Remember to use the keyword TLC965 (no space) when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/show photo..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Thanks for the helpful video Lyn- great challenge! I dug in my die cuts for a butterfly, and used that for my background. Added a fussy cut gnome with a large strawberry- here's Berry Special

went for a more subtle and multi colored leaves background- using marker ink applied to a plastic lid, misted, then picked up with a sponge and applied to my leaves stencil. Repurposed a lavender bouquet for my central image. Here's Leaves and Lavender

OMG you are so right about collecting vs using crafting supplies! When I first started stamping I always felt that if I had one more thing. Now I find myself ordering things that I already have!! LOL Orange Stenciling by lamoore at Splitcoaststampers

I love this technique and have used it on my mixed media challenge for August, too. I did some partial stenciling, then used die cuts to cut stenciled areas out and added them to my journal page. Here it is:
