I deglazed all of my dominoes last year and the they worked well with chalk inks. I bought some Ranger Alcohol inks all excited to do dominoes and realized they needed to be glazed to get the right effect!! So they sat there. Thanks to Epiphany for reminding me about re inkers and CE, I had used that before on glazed tiles but never on dominoes. I really like the vibrant colors you get. The only thing is it takes forever to dry!!!
Mine are the really thin ones from the $ store. Their surface is not slick at all. used StazOn and Sharpies to color. I love these pins around Halloween and for teh Holidays.
My first chance to do a challenge in a VERY LOOOOONNNNNGGGG time. Not thrilled with my results, but this was so easy I'll definitely work on perfecting it! Thanks for the idea.
Well, OK...these are beautiful...but, are they meant to be used as decorations on cards? Probably a silly question, but I guess I expected to see everyone showing a card decorated with one or two of these, but no...
I've made these in the past either as pins or magnets. The "normal" domino is too thick for mailing on a card. I did however, find thin ones at the dollar store and they worked ok on a card (hand-deliver, probably) Might find thin ones at LSS also...hope you try one. es

I don't know if holes can be drilled thru the dominoes but they would be cute as tree ornaments, too.
Doh! Of all the things I keep in the craft room 'just in case', dominoes are not one of them!!! Guess that gives me an excuse to nip off to Wally World...I'm sure I could find some other stuff while I'm there...
I just got in from work and saw the challenge. My friends call me the domino queen bc I really got into them awhile back.
If you can't find them in your stores, they are at Dollar General, they come in a cool tin for $2. Those are an off white consistency and look like ivory. They used to have the really thin ivory ones at Dollar Deals, but I haven't seen them there for a long time.
At Target they have them for around $8 and those are purer white, also in a lovely tin.
No matter what kind, you really don't need to deglaze them if you're covering them with CE or Spray Acrylic when you're done. In addition to the sharpies for coloring, you can lightly sand them with one of those nail polishing blocks before you stamp the main image and use them with pastels and a blender or reinkers mixed with CE.
I haven't done one in sooo long. I'm so glad for the challenge but I must get my work done first! I hope to play later.
In the mean time, here's one from my gallery that I made into a necklace by attaching a silver bead with CE and putting in rinestones while wet: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Yes, you can drill them, here's one more with wires attached by drilling into the sides and a button: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I promise to do a new one when I get my STUFF done. Grrr.... I just want to stamp!

I did it! I went FAUX! It was a lot of time-consuming work and I really need to put a second coat of glaze on it, but I wanted to get it uploaded. The big advantage is that it's light weight. Directions on how I made it are included in the upload. Here's my faux domino.
Am finally getting to this, right before bedtime.
Thanks for this challenge today Beth. I am happy that I tried it, don't know if I would have without ya'!
OK...I did it wrong the first time, I guess my embossing wasn't great so I redid it with CE and like it better....at least that is what I tell myself :-) Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I would like to take a min. of your time and thank you for ALL your help. I have NEVER downloaded or cut&paste. With your directions I can do it. I told my kids OLD DOGS CAN LEARN NEW TRICKS! But it's all thanks to you. Bless you! Janet

For some reason I always have to do things a bit differently, lol! I've been making domino pendant using black dominos for years now. I dressed this one up real nicely for the challenge and made it into a pendant. Black Domino Pendant
