Happy Monday, everybody. I hope you all had a good weekend . It's hard to believe we're near the end of August now!
Like my EIONA die-cut stamps challenge, this one too is inspired by Polly - who enquired in one of the forums about action wobbles. I've never seen the purchased ones, but here are the two ways I make mine - and everybody should have the supplies required to make one version or the other.
The wire one gives a better action. I've found 26 gauge wire to be just about right - stiff enough to hold the coil but flexible enough to wobble - see attached video snippet.
Think about the size of item you are adding the wobble to. If it's small, you'll need to your wire round something like a pencil rather than the permanent marker in my photo, and you'll need to adjust the size of your punched circles if you use them. You can hot-glue the coil directly to your card base and wobble piece if you like. This is easier, definitely, (apart from the risk of burning your fingers) but it's usually more bother for me to get my hot glue gun out, so I punch two circles, pierce a hole in them and thread the wire through, taping it to the the back (which is the side that will be stuck to the base and to the wobble feature. You really only need about two coils of wire for a wobble, but wind a couple more and then you can trim it down.
Option 1 for the best wobble:
Thread your wire through the pierced holes in the circles and attach at back (I use sellotape) OR hot-glue the wire spring directly to the card base and wobble feature, no circles needed.

Option 2: Alternatively you can cut a thin strip of lighweight card or acetate, score it and fold it accordion-wise as shown below. This is what I used for the From The Herd sample. This does not give as much of a wobble but still some action, and if you don't have wire you can try this, or option three (as shown in an old card in my gallery). This one is shown in my From the Herd sample. I tried splicing two videos together and failed, sorry!
Option 3: more of a pop-up, but if you use paper, you'll get wobble too. This one is shown in the old card linked just below it.
Remember to use the keyword TLC705 when you are uploading. It's helpful (to the hostesses for sure!) if you come back and leave a link on this thread .
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread. 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Fun Challenge, Sabrina! I was quite surprised to see how SUPER easy it was to make the wobble action wire spring. It didn't dawn on me that a simpler image would work best until my Santa wobbled in a total blur of color after being assemble - Still my grandsons will love and giggle over it!!

I was inspired by Sabrina's From the Herd themed card to make my pig buddies card, using a large paperclip wrapped around a pencil, slid off once curled (a bit of muscle involved here!) and attached to my pair of light cardboard circles with clear packing tape. Added a bit of coloring and a layered sentiment block. Here's Sharing is Caring.
