TLC551 ~ Color Blocking With Cardstock ~ {9/14/15}
Hello stamping friends!
It's my turn to host the Technique Lovers Challenge and this week we are following a wonderful tutorial in our SCS Tutorials called Color Blocking with Cardstock.
There is an alternate option for you if you do not own dies. It is listed at the end of the tutorial.
I had intended to have a wonderful sample for you today, because I love the look of this technique, but my daughter-in-law went into labor early Sunday morning, and my first grandbaby - Felicity Grace - was born late tonight. So no sample from me this week! I think the Challenge Police will give me an excused sample absence, don't you?
Congratulations on the new baby! Grandchildren are the best! I have three and another on the way. Due in February. Also I love your granddaughter's name!
I definitely give you an excused absence. Grandchildren are great. Her name, Felicity Grace is a lovely one and both parts have meaning for me and I presume for your family.
Also, glad to see that the tutorial has instructions for those of us who do not have dies.
I used the dies for color blocking -- I hope this is what we were suppose to do; I just couldn't tell for sure. The butterfly is a gift from Donna S. who sent it to me through a Tea Potter's exchange card. Thanks so much!

I love this challenge! I worked the technique a bit differently- started with a reverse cut pine branch, filled in the bands of dp with some tombo glue, then attached it to a blue dotted dp/holly leaf card combo. Embellished with blue baker's twine and a mini brad. Here's Pine Branch. TFL!

I did use DP rather than actual cardstock, but otherwise I followed the tutorial exactly.
When that one featured in the Inkling, I really wanted to be able to make a feather one like Beate's sample. And now that I have a couple of feather dies...I make a Christmas one, go figure . TLC551 Blocked Christmas
Congratulations, Judy, on the birth of your granddaughter!!
I have 2 cards for this challenge - one using the negative diecut and the other using the diecut itself:
