It's VERY rare when I can successfully do a new fold on the first try. My waste basket is usually full of scrap paper when I'm learning something new. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Really? Cuz I still have the last fold funky thingy on my desk and not sure if it is right. everyone wrote in how easy it was. I feel really dumb cuz mine has
the ink worn off from re-doing and I never did go forward! maybe I should try? It's been sitting next to my computer for a couple weeks and has now in fact "sprung up" and lotts sort of like a dving board platform. the top shape is a triangle. Is that right? and underneath are 2 1/2 triangles?
Aha! I refused to go to sleep until I had your cool challenge completed, Lynn! Honestly, just when I seem to "think" I have some quiet time for stamping, it seems that the rest of the world taps on my shoulders to say "Get out HERE"! Well, I came back to finish after all of that "other world" was satisfied. ;)
I must admit: I did call in my math/techy hubby for a bit of help on the scoring. Thank heaven, he giggled and lead me right through it. Whew! hahahhaa Mine is resized to accommodate tea bags inside!
Here's my
WOW!! What a challenge!! And the bad thing about this is that I've done these before but forgot how!!! Got one done!! Love the lid added to it!! So clever!! THANKS for looking: Feather Box

I made one of these last year (2007) for my sister for Christmas who lives in CA. When she opened it there was nothing in it but a note. I wrote her I had filled it with Perryville, MO (where I live) air. She told me shie died laughing.

All of you made the most wonderful boxes....mine looks too horrible to even think about taking a picture of- let alone posting. I mastered the making of the box- but the cover....JEEZ! I just couldn't pull it together.....shameful.
i'm trying to look at new things and such on here and learn new things, and saw this one(link) and just might give it a try!!! thanks so much for the tutorial and instructions!!!
for those who don't have chipboard, cereal boxes work too.
I am having troubles with the box as well. On step 3 do we NOT make that diagonal fold that it shows? It shows lines, but doesn't say fold. I have creases all over my sides that I'm not seeing in any of the posts that you all are uploading. I am really wanting to make one of these but step 3 is really throwing me off.
I've just had a quick go - I had extra folds on sides too.
I did it again - do step 1, then step 2 AND keep this folded - do step 3 then open up and follow instructions from there. That worked for me and no extra folds on sides.
Hope this has helped and not made things worse.
The instructions are great Lynn - I think I was just a little nervouse and making more out of it than was actually there!!!
i must not be doing this right....lol...i've gone through a bunch of paper after i wasted some 12X12....lol.....the instructions are awesome, something is just not clicking......will keep trying!!! i want one of these boxes!!

Thank you so much for the instructions for this box and lid. I used the card on the back of a 12x12 paper pad for the lid. Worked well. My box is on my blog here

Sharon,
Thanks so much for posting this video link so it is easier to understand how to make the box bottom. I wish I would have seen it before I struggled with this! LOL http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=wcJJON...eature=related

Had a go at it as well, and while the origami method was ok I think next time I willk stick to a normal glued box ( kinda know what i m doing with those), however i just want to say how much I have enjoyed it and how pleased i am with this cute little box, I will definitely make more thank you:mrgreen:
If you want to have a look at my example you can here TFL, Monica xx

Just one question: Are you glueing the back of the box as well to the middle part of the cover or are you just applying glue to the bottom of the box? Thanks for answering! :-)

I used the red sticky tape on the back and bottom of my boxes.
