Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
Anyone is welcome to play in the weekly Teapot Challenge - the more, the merrier! You automatically become a “TEApotter” the first time you play. Where will you find inspiration? Will it be from the teapot? The destination location? Something of the recipient? Or could it be from the challenge itself? Remember, sending your card to the listed guest of honor is 100% voluntary - it's not a requirement but will be very well appreciated. Just have fun!
This week's challenge hostess is: peeps321/Polly
Our Teaparty this week was requested by fellow Teapotter MaryJo (Icela52). She describes her nephew Henry, 63, as a "true sweetheart". He was born with disabilities and has always been part of Special Olympics. Henry has 6 brothers and sisters who adore him. He was president of the Special Olympics in his area and had his own radio show once a week plus held a full time job with the City of Cranston Highway Dept. Three years ago Henry was struck down with blood cancer and ALL (a type of Lymphoma). He recently spent time in a rehab center but was released a week ago. It would be wonderful if we could send him cards to cheer him up. He used to golf, loves Block Island (in Rhode Island), and the colors red and blue. He has lived close to the ocean and all kinds of boats all his life. He loves his cat Ladybug. His favorite football team is the Patriots.
Challenge: Since Henry has so many interests and so much from which to draw inspiration, let's add a fun element to our cards as a challenge. Decorate one or more corners using a punch, photo corners, add a die cut, doodle, etc
CARD TYPE/THEME: Thinking of You, Hello, Smiles, Encouragement

Sorry Polly but I couldn't figure out how to incorporate a decorative corner, so no cookies for me this week. But at least I got a card done for Henry. Wow, what an amazing guy! MMTPT780 A Special Guy by DebbieinOC at Splitcoaststampers
God demonstrated His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us ... being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:8 & 9
I managed to get some photo corners on mine, so Polly, send some cookies my way! :-) Here is my Lighthouse card for Henry.

Betcha he's tickled pink over this card! I think you really captured, in this card, the heart of everything mentioned about Henry.
all the cards in the gallery are cute. I have son and family in from Missouri and the kids keep me so busy all day playing all sorts of games and cards, so needless to say no time for me now but made card with kitty on it and sent it but not uploaded---

Donnjeanne, I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time from your busy day to make a card for Henry.
Hugs
Hi Everyone, sorry i have not been in touch, but Nick was transferred to MUSC in Charleston with a perforated duodenum. .
Henry and his brothers and sisters are in awe of all the cards he has received from the teapot community they all said it not only cheered Henry up but them too. Henry could not get over all the cards.
To all my amazing teapot friends, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sending a zillion Hugs your way.
Hoping all goes well with the surgery. So glad the cards cheered him up-- keeps us updated--DonnaJeanne
Nick's surgery went well. He has not had food since last Wednesday. They removed the stent that perforated his duodenum that was enlarged in the lower part of his jejunnum. The perforation is still there, they said it encased its self and healing on it's own. He cannot eat solid foods for awhile. He has a feeding tube and they will start feeding him tomorrow. They did allow him to have clear liquids today by mouth. So far so good. He has come through this better than the drs. anticipated. He has a fungal infection and on heavy duty antibiotics. They are testing the stent.
God is good, that is all I can say.

It took a bit of thinking to figure out something to do in the corners, but I finally decided to do French knots. I thought that would kind of echo the sea theme.
